Packet 3 is sent by Delhi and Mumbai Consulates. People are required to send back a checklist and applications to show they are ready for the interview. Then the interview is scheduled.

Packet 4 is sent giving the interview date and instructions for the interview and medical, etc.

Chennai Consulate schedules the interview immediately upon getting the case from the NVC, they do NOT send out Packet 3. They only send Packet 4 giving the interview date. We went through Chennai Consulate so that's all I have experience of. The contents of Packet 4 were as follows:

1. Domicile for IV sponsors
2. DS 230
3. DS 156
4. DS 156K
5. Information for K1 Applicants
6. K1 Interview Appointment Letter
7. Medical Exam Cover Letter & Instructions
8. Photo Instructions & Poverty Guidelines
9. VFS Addresses

Most of this information is available on the Consulate websites. yes.gif

(If anyone is interested in getting the above document attachments, just send me a PM with your email address.)

Neel06,
Here is some info I looked up for you (assuming you dont have the direct New Delhi embassy links) since you asked whats packet 4. But if you already have these links then please disregard this. My apolgies.

Main home page for New Delhi embassy: http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/

Here, I think, you will find pretty much everything you need to know about packet 4 and other New Delhi visa related procedures:
http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/packet4chlst.html

It seems like Bombay and New Delhi (and maybe other US embassies/consulates in India) doesn't follow same EXACT prodecures in terms of packets. As far as I know, Bombay has Packet3 and packet 4 on their website for K3 but I couldn't find P3 for K3 on the ND website, so maybe they combine the two in P4. Can someone who went thru K3 please chime in to answer this?

My only suggestion to you in whatever you do/follow is please follow exactly what New Delhi does because that maynot be same as what Bombay and/or Cheenai does.

Hope this helps you. Again if you already have these links then please disregard this post.

Tc and good luck to all good.gif

For some reason, VJ never lets me edit my post. So here is some more info.

This is a generic NVC processing site that maybe helpful to you: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3185.html

The thing with K3 is, within USCIS/NVC/EMBASSIES, some offices consider it "Immigrant" to refer to docs and site links but OFFICIALLY K3 is classified as "Non-Immigrant" so we need to be careful when we read and reder to docs and forms.
