Hello everyone,

I do need advice and I am sorry if i will not be clear in my email for i have just came from the embassy with the following news

The embassy os US in Riyadh Saudi Arabia did take my passport since my interview back in february. I needed my passport so i went to take it and i asked the imgeration officer when do they need it back and she said they will call me.
I did find it weired what she said and i asked her if i should understand anything or what should i expect. and she said that she thinks it is unlikely that i will be issued the visa.
she said she is not sure about it and i need to email them after a month so they might have the final decision.
Now why did they wait 6 months to reject me and what should I do if it was final. i know i can appeal but that is going to take a life time and maybe i would be dead by then, is that true?

Please advise me what to do and what to expect

Thank you

Please explain what type of visa you are going for.

It sounds like you were under a name check? Maybe you should call the visa specialist at the State Dept (202-663-1225) to get more clarification of the consulate's comment.

Are you sure you understood the CO when she said she thinks it is unlikely that you will be issed the visa? Are you sure there wasn;t some kind of time qualifier? she may have only been saying that you do not need to give them back the passport until they call because it is unlikley ti may be approved anytime soon.

If you are applying for a K-1 visa and were denied, you would have been notified at the time of the interview and given some paperwork on what to do next. It appears you are in security checks, the visa can not be issued until this is complete and that can take a long time depending on a variety of factors.

I needed my passport so i went to take it and i asked the imgeration officer when do they need it back and she said they will call me. This would be correct but since you are going to travel while you are possibly in name checks this will prolong any decision on your case. Once they start name checks and you travel they will have also run new checks on the places you visit thus causing the original checks to be voided.
I did find it weired what she said and i asked her if i should understand anything or what should i expect. and she said that she thinks it is unlikely that i will be issued the visa.
she said she is not sure about it and i need to email them after a month so they might have the final decision. Your case could be in AR/AP or could be in name checks that have not completed yet. As mybackpages suggested and I also agree that you need to contact the consulate or DOS and ask for a status update on your case.
Now why did they wait 6 months to reject me and what should I do if it was final. i know i can appeal but that is going to take a life time and maybe i would be dead by then, is that true? Consular officers must do indepth background checks if they suspect anything fradulant, or name checks or even character checks can take time. I know of a few men from ME/Asian countries that they kept the passport for 9 months and during that time they cleared security checks more than once but eventually were issued the visa.

Please advise me what to do and what to expect Advice is to contact the embassy or DOS and ask them for a status update.

Thank you

i have asked the lady what is going on and she said that she doesn't have the final decision yet and so i asked her what should i expect and she said that she doesn't think it is going to be issued, but i should call in a month so maybe by then she will have the final decision.
it took them 8 months to deny me? and does the imigration officer actually have a window on such information or is it her gut feeling.
i am really messed up and i am desperate for help
i am applying for the K-1 visa

I really appreciate your help

The CO will make the final decision and the persons at the front can only see notes on your case. I suggest that you follow up in with the consulate/embassy or DOS in a few days and ask them for an update. If you are still in AP they will only tell you that the case is still in AP and that they contact the applicant once they are ready to proceed.

Maybe its the way I am reading it or the way you wrote it, but I am not reading that she said you will NEVER get the visa. id the consualte officer say she doesn't think its going to be issed EVER? Saying she doesn't think its going to be inssued anytime soon is probably correct and that is very dfferent from you are probably never going to be given a visa.

And yes, after security checks and AP/AR you can be denied if something is discovered in the investigation. It rarely happens because most of us are not involved in things that merit a denial.
