I've been doing some research on VJ and was reading about the DS-156 form and i'm a little confused, when will I have to fill out this form, is it available to download and will I have to send it or take it to the embassy with me?

You need to fill that form out after you get your NOA2 and take it with you to the embassy.

I had to send in DS 156 and DS 156K but not signd when I send package 3 back to the consulate with the checklist and the DS 230 , I dont know how it will work in your case ( no timeline ) but I resived the instructions when they maild me package 3 , ( DS 156 is expected to be done electronicialy ) good luck Lona

DS-156 (and DS-156K, depending on if you're filing for a K1) is to be filled out online for the interview, since each DS-156 generates a barcode which is unique to the form. Depending on the instructions of your consulate you'll either keep it for the interview or send it to the consulate beforehand.
