I got my EAD which is an (a) (6) for a K-1 holder without AOS pending i filed before we got married, now my AOS/EAD together are underway. The first one i applied could've have taken less than a month in Vermont now that I got my card which expires on August 01 a day before my I-94 expires, what I want to know is can I renew it and do I have to pay again, how much? I figure if it's for free or a smaller fee I could renew it and get the card even before i get my NOA on my AOS and I could start looking for a job as this one's as useless as nothing. And if i renew it how long is the new card be valid?

They don't renew the temp EAD, you have to wait for EAD that was applied for with AOS, or the Green-card which ever arrives first.

I always say the EAD (a )(6 ) is a useless one because it is valid for such a short time, it is essentially the temp one issued at some POEs.

yeah we got it wrong and it was too late to cancel it it was already on the way when we knew about it. we did cancel the check though and ended up the USCIS chasing us to pay the amount which was $180 plus $30 penalty. argh! so painful, just for nothing.
