Hi Everyone,
We are in NY visiting family and the 35mm camera my stepdaughter brought with her for her visit here from Germany is not working. We are considering buying a digital camera for her here so she has something better than a disposable to use for the remainder of her visit but we're not sure about how compatible it will be with her computer when she gets back home to Germany. Has anyone has experience with buying a digital camera here and using the software, etc. in Germany??

There shouldn't be any compatibality issues with the camera purchased from the US. Only thing that would be a problem was if it was to use rechargable battries and came with an adaptor (cannot be used in Europe) You would have to use a step-down transformer. If it uses regular batteries or even rechargable AA batteries you could just buy a battery charger from Germany.

My digital camera works just fine on my fiance's computer in Germany and vice-versa. No problems.

never heard of such issues. they all work with usb cables or if the computer has card readers just use those!

Digital cameras work the same on all continents, no regional codes there.
Maybe a driver issue? Or some program to do anything with photos is missing?

Further investigation has confirmed there don't seem to be any compatibility issues other than how the battery is recharged, unless standard AAA/AA batteries are used.
Thanks everyone!

usually it should not be a problem with the rechargeable batter as well. Most of the digital cameras are dual voltage. You only need to a european plug in Germany (which cost maybe 1$).
