I got the letter from NVC today stating my case "will be forwarded in the next week" (I already know it was forwarded on Thursday 7/19). However, (and how sad is this), my MOM was the first person to notice that my last name was spelled wrong.

Soooo...I called NVC, they said it's out of their hands and to call DOS.

But...I was curious and just called DOS this morning (before I got the letter) and DOS told me NVC still had my case and had not yet forwarded it. NVC confirmed tonight that it was sent 7/19, as I was told on 7/20 when I called. Soo...who's right?

Then the person at NVC said it was strange that on my NOA1 and NOA2 that my name was spelled correctly, yet at the NVC level....no.

So now what? I'll be calling DOS again in the morning but the mixed stories I've been getting lately are really grating on my nerves. Anyone else experience this?

I had the same problem they spelled my fiance's name wrong, so I called NVC saying it was spelled wrong, and they told me not to worry about it, that it was probably just a typo, because in their system it was spelled correctly and on the NOA1 and 2, it was spelled correctly. They said once he goes to the interview he would just have to tell them. I told my fiance when he calls the embassy to make sure that they have the correct spelling.

I've also read somewhere else that you can make the corrections with the CO at the time of the interview.

Yes, The consulate said they will issue the visa as per the name in your passport even if the name is spelled incorrectly and/or different names were used on the original petition and NOAs.

It can be corrected at the time of the interview.

Ok. I told my fiance to fix it at the interview if I can't get anywhere with DOS today.

It's spelled wrong in NVC's system but was correct in USCIS' system.

Thanks for your help smile.gif

WOW, DOS is rude. The lady answered with her mouth full and wasn't even listening to me, she was just talking on and on about nothing I was calling about. headbonk.gif Eventually I got it out of her that all of you were right, my fiance will have to fix it during his interview. laughing.gif
