On the instructions for form I-131, it says that you may apply for advance parole if you have a specific business reason or an emergency. But after reading through the forums, it seems some people applied just to visit family. So which is it? I know alot of people apply incase an emergency arises regarding family, but what if you just want to go see them?

where on the form does it specifically say "only for business or emergency"?

I applied for AP to visit my family, and I was granted that without difficulties.

It seems confusing, but AP has become a routine interim benefit for adjusting applicants.
