Hi,
KHURRAM SERAJ,

Eid Mubark
Assalam o alaikum, Eid Mubarak!
No news yet, I have emailed the embassy again today and will everyone know if there is an update, Good luck!
Eid Mubarak as well as Belated Eid Mubarak to other,
Guys would like to know the some trends in regards to Scheduling of Interview was IR1/CR1 Cases at Islamabad. With the grace of God the process has been Smooth so far and hope it will be over in the same fashion and sooner. My Wife Received the Instruction packet 3 from Consulate last week and we are going to submit the papers they requested soon. My only concern is scheduled Date of interview given by Consulate in Islamabad. I have heard that consulate is scheduling Interview as far as Jan or Feb for Interviews for some people (heard this for Attorny). Have you guys experienced this or heard anything like that. according to couple of timelines it seem like interviews are scheduled like month to month and half apart.
Any Updates or experiences will be appreciate. Thanks Alot. (May Allah Help you All, Inshallah.)
Congratulations on getting your packet and sending it back soon. The disappointing news is that they are taking a long time to schdule interviews like your attorney told you. I know since I have been on VJ over two years that it is taking 4-6 months for interviews of any kind from Islamabad and in our case it was 6 months. This consulate is very busy and understaffed and all you can do is ask them to move the interview up if they have any openings. Good luck.
Mary
AbeFaizi,
Mary is right. My wife's interview was scheduled 6 months 3 days from the date she received packet 4.
Good Luck

Not speaking for Jaxguy, but we tried multiple times without lock - others seem to have the same experience. The only one whom I remember being successful was one with a medical recommendation (or pregnancy related need).
It's still worth trying though.

Yes, you do need to Notarize it.
Any "Notray Public" can nottarize it. You will sign the form in the presence of Notary Public and then he/she will verify its really you by checking your photo ID (driver's license, passport, Green Card, etc). Notary will sign and stamp the form and date it.
You can check with your local bank where you have account (no charge), any lawyer, local UPS Store can also notarize for a fee, less than $10 each verification.
Good Luck

As you can read from DOS Quote Page 8 of 10
"Completing the I-864
Is the I-864 and I-864A required to be notarized?
No. The sponsor just has to sign the I-864. You should know however, when the sponsor signs the Form I-864 he/she certifies that the information provided, transcript and/or photocopy of tax documentation is true and correct, under penalty of perjury.."

Definition of a Child The immigration law defines a "child" as an unmarried person under the age of 21 (a minor) who is
- A child born to parents who are married to each other (born in wedlock)
- A stepchild if the marriage creating the steprelationship took place before the child reached the age of 18
- A child born out of wedlock (the parents were not married at the time the child was born). Note: If the father is filing the petition, proof of a bona fide (real and established) relationship with the father must be supplied.
- An adopted child if the child was adopted before the age of 16 and has lived with the adoptive parent(s) in their legal custody for at least two years
- An orphan under the age of 16 when an adoptive or prospective adoptive parent files a visa petition on his or her behalf, who has been adopted abroad by a U.S. citizen or is coming to the U.S. for adoption by a U.S. citizen, or
- A child adopted who is under the age of 18 and the natural sibling of an orphan or adopted child under the age of 16, if adopted with or after the sibling. The child must also otherwise fit the definition of orphan or adopted child

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRDhttp://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRDPlease note that it states 21 or younger on one site and I have seen many cases where the child came over at 17 or 18 and is now in deportation hearings since they have aged out before they completed the AOS processing. The parent was approved and while in AOS the child turned 21 or older and was denied and told they are being deported. Very heart breaking seeing families from Europe, Canada and such that are fighting the USCIS to keep their children with them now.
I am also active on another forum and the son was denied going out of the country to see his dying grandmother and told once he left US soil he would not be readmitted. He is in court and has an attorney and already been to two hearings and has another one scheduled at the end of the year and the family is being torn apart since he just turned 21 and has been in the states a few years now.
Edited to say this is for K visa status holders that marry USC.

Two of the 3 children will be above the age of 21 and the 3rd will be 20 about to turn 21 if they are admitted 10yrs after filing (they filed in 1999). So, it appears the one that is about to turn 21 will be permitted to come but then could possibly be deported since they will be 21 after the AOS! How long does the AOS take? I'm assuming it will take many years to do.
Thanks a lot for your help Mary!

Sounds like they are LPR status and will have to get the visa issued and then my understanding is that they will get approved for a 2 year conditional greencard. Once they enter the states they will file to lift conditions 90 days before the expiration date on their visa. Then the AOS will begin and it can vary in length especially males are hit hard with name checks (again during this step) so the timeframe can vary greatly.

Affidavit of Support:
The US Spouse is ALWAYS the primary sponsor, but may have a co-sponsor. If there is a co-sponsor, both the
US Spouse and the co-sponsor will EACH have to fill out the affidavit I-864 and EACH will have to provide
supporting documentation.
You do not need the I-864 to be notarized
Fees:If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, then no fee is required to file a request for advance parole on Form I-131 and/or employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the I-131 and I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-131 and/or I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-131 and/or I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of the receipt for your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, as evidence of the filing of an I-485.

Co-sponser need to fill out only I-864A if he is residing in the same house where a sponser is residing. So, if co-sponser and you(the primary sponser) are living together and he is your family member or relative, then you will will out I-864 and co-sponser will fill out I-864A. Notice, however, that I-864 needs Not to be notrized, but I-864A does. If co-sponser is not living with you, then you need two separte I-864 forms both from you and co-sponser. Hope this clarifies. Good luck!!
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864A.pdfWhere to File :
Should be filed with Form I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act.
The signatures on the I-864A must be notarized by a notary public or signed before an immigration or consular officer.
Filing Fee :

The time that this processing takes will vary on a case-by-case basis. Once we have completed this administrative processing, we will continue with your visa application. If your case is otherwise complete, and you have opted to have your passport, visa and documents returned by courier, the courier service will contact you to arrange for delivery. If you have opted to keep your passport, we will contact you to let you know when to come to the Embassy to drop it off, and will then return your visa by courier.
\I hope this information will be helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you required any further inquiry.

AP from Islamabad is the security checks, a background check, if married to rule that it is legitimate, if you stated you were not married to rule out that you are not hiding a marriage from the USC, security checks that involve your education or job (science, etc), and an overall check on the validity of your information that was submitted for your visa such as name, family, travel history, and the new check to rule out that you did not give any funds from you or your family to help terrorists. There is no way to determine how long it will take and the response is what most persons get when first asking for a status update from the consulate. Good luck on your AP finalizing soon.
This information is from the FAM:
THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES CURRENTLY HAVE SPECIAL CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
AFGHANISTAN, ANGOLA, ARMENIA, AZERBAIJAN, BELARUS, BOSNIA, BURMA, CENTRAL AFRICAN REBULIC, CHINA, CROATIA, CUBA, GAZA, GEORGIA, HAITI, HERZEGOVINIA, IRAN, IRAQ, ISRAEL, KAZAKHSTAN, KRGYZSTAN, LAOS, LIBERIA, LIBYA, MACEDONIA, MOLDOVA, MONGOLIA, MONTENEGRO, NORTH KOREA, PAKISTAN, RUSSIA, RWANDA, SERBIA, SIERRA LEONE, SLOVENIA, SOMALIA, SUDAN, SYRIA, TAJIKSTAN, TURKMENISTAN, UKRAINE, VIETNAM, WEST BANK, ZIMBABWE
And the following are just a few of the security checks that are requested and not all countries require all checks and your job or schooling can affect what checks they require.

hello everyone,
reccently I emailed the ISB embassy inquiring about my husband's visa status because they told my husband to contact them 4wks after the his interview date which was august 28, 2007.
well this is all I got frm them today:
""Dear Sir/Madam,
A consular officer has reviewed your immigrant visa application and has determined that additional administrative processing is required before we can complete your case.
Thanks & best regards""

I think Saudi Arabia and others like Myanmar's that are in unrest all endure this and that the climate changes so often now that they are not always in the government printed publications. I even say that with the unrest that was going on in Morocco with all the cafe bombings a few months back may of effected their processing as well.
Hang in there everyone and the embassy is working on cases slowly. Pain07 and DDX had long journies and they finally got their visa in hand after a long process.

Hey everyone,
Wanted to update everyone on our situation. My husband arrived U.S on 9-08-07. We filed for his AOS on 9-14-07, and still waiting for NOA, nothing yet

This is so frustrating, because we are bound, he is unable to work or do anything. Other then that, life is going great with my husband. Hope everyone is doing great.

Hang in there man.
I was there at the embassy, and it was a mad house, especially with the number of people who were there for non immigrant visas. The embassy is simply overwhelmed by the number of folks showing up each day just for visit visas. I would estimate there must have been 300-400 folks just for visit visas.

Hi fellow VJ'rs. Have been following this thread for a long time. A few questions for the resident experts here.
First a brief case status. I applied through a lawyer for my wife both I-130 and K3. The I-130 processing was completed and interview date received for April 8th 2008.
A month ago post I-130 approval the K3 was approved, procssed at NVC and now she received a packet from the embassy for an interview date of January 8th 2008 requesting the same original documents that we have already sent them for the I-130.
Considering i kept emailing them when the I-130 was being processed for an early interview date, they never did that stating heavy workload and now the K3 is scheduled for an earlier date - not complaining but what a mess.
Questions i have are:
1. Is there a possibility of them do the I-130 interview on the date they have scheduled the K3?
2. All original documents were sent with the I-130, if she goes to the K3 interview what to expect?
3. What other options are available.
Apologies if the questions are redundant, your responses are appreciated.
Regards
