Don't wait their reply. I upgrade my petition from F2A to IR1 in Islamabad embassy as i just fax my wife's passport to US embassy in Islamabad. Here is the fax number (+92) 51-2276427.

Also you can send a copy in mail (don't send in email they will not accept) with your case number and tell them to upgrade your petition. The petition will upgrade in 1 week, that was happend with me.

W'salam. I am fine.

My wife got a call from American Express yesterday to come over and pick up a letter.
I am hoping this is packet 4, Inshallah. She is afraid it could be RFE for packet 3.5

We'll find out in next 7 to 8 hours.

Well, Good news and Bad news.

Good news is, my wife received packet 4
Bad news is, interview date is after more than 6 months, April 8, 2008

It is terrible and so cruel to make us wait this long for may be just 10 to 20 minutes long interview. Specially in my case when I have been separated from my family for 4 1/2 years. Regardless of how long you are away from your loved ones, you want to be reunited as soon as possible.

ISB got to be the worst embassy in the whole world, and no sign of it getting better any time soon.

Jaxguy, Sorry to hear that they are still issuing the dates so far out (our's was the same way). One thing you can do is give it some time and then e-mail them asking for your interview to be moved closer if they have an opening sooner. In some cases they will move the case up if they can for a female. Right now it is end of the physical year, dv lottery, and all the holidays are coming up. Hang in there an hopefully it will be moved up for you.

As for me (old timers know about son) we got more bad news and two more surgeries are to be performed end of November. We got confirmation he is totally deaf in his left ear. This will be about his 15th and 16th surgery since 2002 so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

I called the DOS today and they said that my wife's case was being processed at the embassy, so I asked if her security clearence was complete and they said yes. So what happens now ?

Oh I am so happy for you Khurram!! Congratulations!! I was worried about it since it has been more than four months. I believe, within one or two weeks(I wish earlier), your wife will recieve a call from American express to pick up her visa and passport.

By the way, I think it is a good time to email Islamabad embassy and tell them about the clearnce and ask them when will she get the visa.

My wife had her interview (CR1) in islamabad yesterday, and after 5 min. of questioning about me and my family, the lady there started asking about my wife's previous marriage. She started scrutinizing the divorce document. My wife took the divorce document that she had received from the The union office administration in karachi, but apparently that was not sufficient and they needed additional document. The objection letter says that they need the court issued divorce document and the administrative processing paperwork. But my understanding is that the local council offices issue the divorce certificate. They told her that it may take 2-3 mnths to process everything. After raising the objection they asked her to send her passport along with the additional documentation.

I am trying to get all of the requested information together, the interview was on monday 0ct 5, and I am planning to send everything back by next week.

My questions are:
1) What is the most reliable documentation that I can get for them in karachi pakistan
2) How long does it really take from this point, is the 2-3 mnths time for real
3) What do they specifically need when they say administrative processing paperwork for the divorce
4) If you have been thru this please let me know what should I do.

I'm really depressed with this whole deal, I dont know how long its going to take to have my wife here with me. I was expecting them to ask more question regarding my marriage instead they drilled the hell out of her previous marriage documentation. Just wanted to wish you all luck in this tiring and long process. Inshallah, I hope we all get reunited with our families. My fiance and I toyed with the idea of doing the wedding in lhr and just switching to k3/cr1 and cancelling k1, as engagements this long just aren't done in our families. However, it seems for everyone on VJ those are taking just as long!! So we'll just go the k1 route.

How long does it take if you get an objection on your interview due to lack of prior marriage termination documentation.

I don't have much to add, but I wanted to wish you luck in dealing with this. Sounds to me like embassy has concerns about the previous marriage ending which might also be reflected in the current marriage. Others will likely have better input, but I would also suggest letters from friends and family, lots of pictures of your marriage, proof of current ongoing relationship - phone bills etc as additional documents.

BTW, it might be more helpful if you share more details as to processing dates, etc.

Yes, I did, I have'nt heard back from alot a people.

My case went to islamabad in beginning of april and the intrview date was for Oct. They asked a few basic question about texas and stuff, and the asked her to send her passport along with the missing documentation. She had all the pics and stuff on her!

I'm sorry to read your son has now totally lost all hearing in his left ear. I went through all the trauma of 1000's of ear infections and finally tubes before my son was 15 months old --- BUT I just cannot imagine so many surgeries.

HP sorry to hear that you have not gotten your NOA1 yet. Did you pay by personal check? If so see if they have cashed it yet by contacting your bank. Right now they are running behind on getting all NOA's since the fee increase plus they had compute/printing problems. Give it some more time since it has only been less than one month so far.

Well, I am happy to annouce my wife has finally made it here. She received her K-3 visa (passport and paperwork packet) on Sept 28. That is 13 working days (or 17 days) from the interview date, where they told us 7-10 days. By the grace of Allah, her POE experience was very smooth, infact we were done in 10 minutes. The border agent did not ask any questions from her, just from me as I had filled out the customs card and put my information on it. All in all a very smooth and pleasant experience. Wishing all folks, all the best and a speedy reunion with their loved ones. Thanks for all your support.
