Hello everyone, Just been busy with the wife.....Talk about a culture shock. I just went shopping this morning with her and was it an experience, both for her and my pocket....LOL. Anyways, I'm trying to figure out if we can go to Canada, Niagra Falls etc. Are K-3 visa holders allowed to leave the us for a few days and come back without any problems.
Also, should I apply for Adjustment of Status right away or wait? The damn fees are killing me everywhere I go, employment authorization is needed to get a soc number???? Fees for that, Fees went up for Adjustment of Status. And fees for a multi visit visa for one year to Canada is around 150.

Hi everyone, just wanted to update you on my current status.
My wife arrived in Chicago on the 22nd of July. As you can imagine, I was very happy. Very ironically though, my company needed me to work on site in Orlando, Fl for the next 2 weeks. Initially I wanted to take her with me, but it was very short notice and she really hasn't adjusted to life here yet... so I went to Orlando alone.
Anyway, I'm back now in Chicago and got to spend a full weekend together which was great. We filled and sent all the AOS forms on 7/28 and are waiting for the EAD approval before we get her social security card.
Good luck to everyone else and thanks for all your help. I'll be on the AOS forum much more now.

My wife and daughter had their interview today. Their interview time was 8AM. The interview went pretty well. She was interviewed on two separate windows and asked several ususal questions regarding how the marriage was arranged, when we got married, where did we get married, what do i do in the US, how much I earn, when and where our daughter was born, how often I have visited her, where have we lived together since our marriage, key dates of her prior visits to US and other place etc.
In the end, she was told that she meets all requirements of immigrant visa and has been approved. The immigration officer returned all her original documents along with receipts for collecting passports from AMEX. The immigration officer told her that she will receive her visa within a week.
I will keep you posted for any further updates.
I would like to thank all of you for your help, suggestion, support and for sharing your experiences. I wish all of you good luck in your immigration process and wish you a speedy and happy reunion with your families.

K3 visa holders are allowed to travel without restrictions for two years.
I suggest apply for AOS as soon as you can as you 2yrs to have the green card in hand.

.I also have filed for K3..waiting for NOA2...I have a question, Do i need to send my phone record to show that i have been talking to my wife over pakistan... I am not planning to visit until she gets visa.. Its almost 5 months now for our wedding. I had to leave right after my wedding
It was the most difficult time for both of us...Since then we are talking on phone, web chat ect...Again.. its nice to see so many from our community..

They then asked if he had any pictures of our daughter, he took out about 200 pictures, home videos, and a coffee mug I had sent him that had a picture of our daughter on it, (they were amused to see it and loved it!)
My husband then told them that "my wife had sent the I-864 to NVC but had a few mistakes in it, NVC told her to give it to me to present at interview"... (by the way I filled out a new one just this month, with tax returns for 2006 for both me and my parents, who are "household members").. They said "no its not necessary we dont need them everything looks good". He then said "Do you need the tax returns for 2006? NVC told my wife if interview is after April 15th, I will need to submit 2006 tax returns at interview" They then said "No, we dont need those either"...
They then told him everything looks fine, but we still need to do some background check on your case, he was handed a pink slip. He asked them "how long will this take"? They told him "about 3-4 months".
we are both VERY disappointed.. even though it was expected..
I hope all our Ap's end soon, insha'Allah. And best of luck to those who are still waiting for interview date.

Khurram, hang in there and hopefully it will not be much longer. I told you earlier that the AP is the hardest part since you are in the dark and wondering about how the process is going. I saw you took a few days away from the forum to refresh yourself. Sometimes you just need to take a breather and focus on something else. Remember you are not alone and can always come and chat to us
and hard to believe but once your wife is here this long separation and heartache of the AP will be gone (a distant memory) and you will just go to living your lives as one.

It takes usually two weeks. In our case we are still waiting for EAD approval, but I have seen other people time line and it is about two weeks or so.

Dont the SSN card acomes home automatically if one has marked "Yes" on one of the forms (probably ds230) submitting to embassy?

Mian marked DS form when submitted to Islamabad and his card did come to us automatically. Your POE triggers that you are stateside and then your information is put in the SAVE system and then your card is generated.

These dates don't match up. I m not sure how someone can go back in time and have a baby? did you mean March 2008??

Did anybody that has traveled to pakistan get any vacinations before going? If so, what were they? I am going to swat in October and my fiance said there is not any mosquitoes around that time so dont worry about malaria. I just want to double check.

Sorry I haven't been on but I have been so busy. I have updated my timeline. Currently I'm waiting for DS230 and praying that they accept everything we sent for the i-864. I just want it to hurry up and get to Islamabad so that we can get an interview. Also just wondering when he go for interview what exactly will he need. Where do you get Police Certificate in Lahore and how much is it? Do u think its possible for him to be here by end of September guys? Our baby will be born that time inshallah. I'm so stress out. Good luck to everyone.

I do not think there is a vaccine for malaria. Your doctor can prescribe anti malarial medicine which you take like a week before getting there and then continue taking a week after you return. The medicine is nothing more than the actual drug used to cure the sickness. Malaria can be very hard on people who have never had it before.

Do not want to sound like a downer, but my wifes interview date is in september, and our paper work was in islamabad in the begining of june. So, it is highly unlikely your husband would be here by september. He would have to go to the police station incharge of the area he lives in, to get the police certificate, its not supposed to cost anything, but you know pakistan. Also he would need certificates from every city/town he has lived in for longer than six months since he turned 16 years old.

I havent been on VJ for a long time before i was on 24/7 just reading thorugh ppl' questions and answer etc. And i was staring to feel sad after reading thtough people stories, f so I stopped for a while but I hope inshallah everyone's visa's are granted as same for my husband too.
Today I finally mailed my husband the last packet of documents now its just time to pray to Allah and hope for everything to go well., Inshallah
I also had a question for anyone out there whose spouse has already gone thorugh this:
Does anyone know how much it costs approx. for the biometrics, at the Isb Embassy? Are there any other fees to worry abt as well? Can he pay in dollars o need rupees?

A few days back, somebody from US embassy called at my home and talked to my father, and asked him question about my wife and our marriage. Other then this there is no update from my side as yet, i hope i get my visa soon and be united with my wife n kids.

waiting4s is correct you must take some pills for the malaria. I went in December and was requried to take the pills and I had two shots one was a tetnus and not sure of the other one but it was required before I could gain entry into Pakistan I was told.

Agree with waiting4s again. My husband's case was at the consulate in August and his interview was not until December. They are making you wait anywhere from 4-6 months when you are going the CR1 route. And the information on his police clearances is correct too. I suggest that he not get them too early since some providences are good for 3 months, 6 months and a few for one year.

POE was smooth but with about 3 hours waiting.
