Hi All,
Thanks again mary for the information. I greatly appreciate it as I am sure most of us are overwhelmed with this process and the possiblity of being denied.
What are the looking for when they ask me about my religion? I am not Muslim, but I know that the Qu'ran states that a Muslim can marry a Christian. Yes, they may ask to see if you are convert or not? Yes a Muslim man can marry a Christian and their kids will be raised Muslim. A muslim lady cannot marry a Christian man. If you have not read and studied the religion I suggest that you do so for your own information and understanding. I am a convert.
I have a few more questions that maybe someone has some answers to. I heard that you can file for a K1 and while it is being processed, get married and change to a k3. NO misinformation once you marry you have to void the K1 and start a new petition of K3 or CR1. How does this affect the amount of time it takes to get an interview? Does changing in the middle affect the process? I am looking for the quickest but the smartest way to be with Faisal. K1 are usually the fastest but a man can get stuck in a name check and it can take a long time to get cleared.
Also, I read that someone was asked in the interview if members from both families were present. Does this affect your iligebility? My father is disabled and it is very hard for him to travel. I may not have anyone from my family be present at a wedding in Pakistan. You do not need to have USC family present for Nikkah wedding in Pakistan but it would be nice. They will want to have pictues of the wedding and may ask for a list of attendees and contact information. We had a field investigation and they did contact the Nikkah attendess and verified the information. My parents are dead and my sons were too young to go to Pakistan when I traveled and married but we took plenty of pictures.
To all of you out there, I wish you the best of luck and hope you will soon be reunited with your loved ones.
Anybody else please feel free to give her your views.

Well, our case is cuising through NVC smoothly (mashallah) and only DS230 is left to be generated.
I am leaving for Pak in a week and planning to send DS230 from Pak once I hear from NVC that it has been generated.
Does anyone see any issue if I send DS230 from Pak via FedEx? What should I write as "sender's" address? Address in Pak or US?
Thanks

I have been just informed from a freind of mine that his wife's interview for K-3 was done yesterday. The consular officer has given him form 194 that indicates that he needs to provide I-864( Joint Sponsor)with all the supporting documents and after that further consideration will be given to his application. However, the embassy has kept his wife's passport and given them a list of courier agents. He has told me that he has been told by the embassy that once the embassy has 1-864 the visa will be in hand in 2-3 days. He is wondering that he can be on AP or not becasue he has not received any paperwork that says his wife will be on AP, however, the emabssy has taken her fingerprints for both hands. Please share any experience that his wife still can be on AP or not.
Thanks,

No personal experience, but from what I have read in these forums, If you do not get a paper specifically stating AP/AR processing will need to be done on your case, then you are not on AP/AR. Your friend needs to provide the stuff requested by the embassy asap and then his wife should be issued the visa.

It now appears they are taking full set of fingerprints AP or not. So number of fingerprints taken may no longer be a valid way to determine AP/AR. I think it is required by law that they provide the AP/AR paper if they put someone on it. In this forum people get hung up on the color of the paper instead of reading the text on the paper. In all cases that I have seen, it quite clearly states AP/AR. If your friend did not get a paper (whatever color) clearly stating his wifes on AP then she is not, no two ways about it.

Ali I am a Pakistani born male living in Canada. I had my interview with the Montreal consulate was told I would get the visa in a week was not told would be in AP nor given any notice but found out later that they put me on it anyway. Pakistani consulate works differently but from what I think they might still put your friend on AP atleast from my experience that is what happened.

This happened to a very close friend of mine. His wife was missing the I-864 for the joint sponsor. What embassy did was, they sent the case to Washington for approval and asked the friend's wife to submit I-864. Both processes were running parallel. She submitted the I-864 and once the approval was sent to the embassy from Washington, she received the visa in about 1-2 weeks.

hi guys
I have been busy getting things ready for my husband before I send him the final packet.
Does anyone know if it makes a difference if I go with my husband for his interview in Islamabad? I really want to so I can at least see him again but ive been checking out the airfares and they are expensive.
I dont know how but I have question for ladies who are in the same situation as I'am: how are you dealing with the fact that there spouse is not here with you?
im in a big delimma becuase inshallah if my husband's visa is approved then no prob but, if not then my husband would like for me to come back. I dont know but its very difficult to do this. I know guys in our culture dont get asked alot when their spouse is comming but with ladies is a diff situation unfortunately. as my husband's days are comming near for the interview Im getting very nervous due to the fact that things still have not calmed down in ISB. I'am praying to Alah everything goes smoothly not just for me but everyone else who is in the same situation
I was also thiinking maybe he should extend the date of the interview but I have already done that and I would like to get eveyrthing finsihed asap.

You might get better airfare through a travel agent as thats who I am using. Compared to the big online sites, like orbitz, travelocity, etc, the agent came in about 400 bucks cheaper, albeit it is a slighty longer travel time and more airplane changes, but 400 bucks is 400 bucks. Also the earlier you buy the tickets the cheaper they are going to be.

From what I have seen with other folks times on this forum, its been taking anywhere from 1-2 weeks, before it is delivered by the courier folks. So by your interview date, 2 weeks would be 24th july, hopefully you got tickets for at least after that date.

A1V also got visa today and been on AP for over one year.
Congratulations to ALL Niddy, Maranello and A1V. Islamabad has been on a role and I am loving making the AR/AP list shorter. Keep those visas coming and may all of you recently with visa in hand have a swift homecoming to your loved ones.

ok i have the following quesiton about a friend.
She is a US citizen, her passport expires in 2008. She moved to pakistan a while back like a few years ago. And so she got married in pakistan and she lives in pakistan. Now she wants to bring her spouse to US. she has been in pakistan for more than 5 years, What is the process she must follow. Can she file for directly through embass. She does not have any relatives in US. Everyone moved to pakistan 5-7 years ago.

Hafiz I would think she would have to come back to the USA, set up domicile, and get a job. Then she could file the I-130 and let it process thru the system and once approved her husband would come back to the US on IR-1. Having no domicile and job in the USA will be an issue.

I agree with Mary. I was reading on DOS Website about this. She will have to come here and set up a domicile. You can read about this in detail if you go to Immigrant Visa and then Affidartive of Support(I-864) section at DOS website. Please see the attched file and if possible, email it to your friend. It is from DOS website and explains in detail about domicile and who, how, and when is it needed. regards, kim

http://www.immihelp.com/greencard/familyba...lar-filing.htmlhttp://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=dcfCheck these links and you can also do google on direct consular filing. I think she can do DCF, but only if she is working for a US company or US government in Pakistan. Otherwise, as far as I can see, for I-864, she will need that domiclie thing as described in the file that I attached. But if she has no other option, then, I would suggest, just go to the embassy and file the I-130 there and let's see what they say.

Hafiz one of the members on this forum a while back husband was put on AR/AP (substanial time) and went and lived with her spouse in Pakistan. The embassy refused to issue the visa or lift the AR/AP until she came back to the USA, found a home and sent lease or rental agreement, she made pictures of herself in USA with the local newspaper and the dates marked, and had a job for the I-864. I am not sure if they have the visa yet.
You can DCF if you have only lived a few months in Paksitan and still have residence and job in USA. Like Kim posted read the links and you will see that they are strict with these two requirements. You must have domicle and cannot be a burden on the US government.

Ok
I am perfect example for your friend.
Go for DCF and let your friend stay in Pakistan with her husband till the packet 3 or 3.5 arrives. Once it's reached, your friend must fly to USA in order to establish domicile. So now when the date of interview is declared, she may come back but then she could not stay more than 6 months in Pakistan.
Holding a job in USA is good sign but not compulsory. You will need I-864 and 864A.
Good Luck.
Congrats to cindishah on great news!

How are you planning to include the Bar code document? Checklist? Have you asked someone what is exactly in the DS-230? NVC may have changed list of the required documents. I have heard that some folks from this site have sent the 3032 before even it was generated. And it was accepted by the NVC.
Now as far as sender's address is concern. Here is what i suggest:
You should always write the choice of agents address for "Sender's address". If you are the petitioner and also choice of agent then you should write your address as "sender's address".
Now the problem is that you are in Pakistan and you are sending the 230 before even it gets to your house in USA.
I would say, you complete the DS-230 form before you leave to Pakistan, hand it to your friend/relative whoever you trust the most. Whenever NVC generates the DS 230, have your friend/relative mail the forms to the NVC.
You will have assurance that mail will get their safe, on time and it'll have your origonal address with the US stamps.

Dood Wala,
Sounds like you have been away from VJ for a long time and you don't have a clue how to generate bar code page. It can be done, and as a matter of fact I have prepared the bar code page already, not going to tell you how cuz I know you are from CA.....

Anyway, thanks for the advise.

Hey Ali!
Does this mean they
finally approved your I-130??
Do you really want to run the risk of being stuck in A/P without the misses, without your job and your new home for months and months? Or can you return to the US on your K-3 while they are processing A/P???
Welcome back to the thread.. there has been a lot of great news lately, the visa's are flyin since the new ambassador took over.
