One final question ... what did the interviewing officer tell your wife about AP/AR or when she will get her visa? Also, can you share your timeline?

Hey everyone,
My husbands IR-1 interview is coming up soon (july 25,2007)... and I AM SCARED.. I just realized something... I was reading some of the old posts and now im VERY CONFUSED..
In the I-130... we wrote or NIKAH date as the Marriage date... which was Nov. 19,2003.. My "Shadi" "ruksati" was on october 12,2004.. WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM??? or am i jus panicking for no reason.. according to Islam NIKAH=marriage but desi culture dosnt consider u married unless you have the whole ruksati thing... will this be a problem at the interiew???
ANY THOUGHTS......??????????
Thanks in advance!!!
My nikah was in November 2001 and rukhsati was December 2004. Long gap between Nikah and rukhsati. CO did not ask me about nikah or rukhsati but i told him that nikah was in 2001 and rukhsati was in 2004. He asked why wait for so long and asked for pictures of both functions also he asked me that tell me something interesting about your wife in this gap.
At the end he approved and congratulated but said need to do AP. Nothing to worry about Nikah or rukhsati gap.

Yes it could be a problem, but only if you mention it. In desi culture first, there is an engagement, and then there is Nikah and then rukhsati. And gora's don't understand this long process. So when your husband goes to the embassy make sure he doesn't mention anything about nikah and then later rukhsati process. Otherwise it could be a problem. Obviously, there are some pakistani people who work at the embassy. They know what happens in our culture. we like to do the nikah first so the paper work can be started. And rukhsati will be around the time when the petition is approved.
Just make sure don't show too many pictures. I remember someone went through the same issue. This girl who got married (nikah) in summer but her rukhsati was in december. So when she took her wedding pictures (she wanted to show some pictures of nikah, especially when she was signing the nikah form) but then her valima was in winter. She took out most of the valima pictures in which her family members were sitting next to a heater and wearing extra warm clothes. just an idea how the embassy can find out that there was a huge gap between your nikah and valima.

They gave my wife a white paper saying that CO thinks that there is additional administrative processing required before they can issue the visa. And once thats complete they will issue the visa. The CO at the end of the interview told my wife that don't worry you will get the visa in less than two months. I don't know how long they take to issue one after its cleared from Washignton.

Never Ever tell anything beside what has been asked by the CO (that is the basic rule). Don't provide any volunteer information. The answer of the question should be to the point. Don't try to provide the background behind the answer (basically, don't try be a smart ###).
If asked for date of marriage: just provide the date that you put on your I-130 (nikah/rukhsati whatever it was). If the nikah date was on the I-130 and there was a gap between nikah and rukhsati (more than a month) then just pretend that rukhsati was on the same date of nikah.
it could cause an issue especially if your interview is taking place before your rukhsati date. And if it hasn't then like i said CO may take this as a positive thing because it could prove that your relation to your wife is still very strong. Although, Gora's may take this process very strangely. CO may put you on AP for further investigation just to see the precision of the marriage.

If you are a Pakistani married to a Pakistani the Nikka and Rukhsati are not an issue. If a Pakistani marries a Gora woman then you might have an issue since these marriages are scrutinized more closely. Almost all men have AP and the current events in London and in the media are not going to make the checks go any faster.

I didn't get much details because the cell phone signal sucked. She's afraid the embassy may shut down, cause usually that's the first thing to happen when things get stirred up a little. I'm not sure what the hell is going on there but I am nervous now. Her interview is right around the corner and this kind of crap happens. I thought it would be good to share this with you all especially since there was a few others that had their interviews at the end of March.
I'm hoping this part goes quickly. When he was interviewed he was told congratulations, your visa was approved, we just have to go through administrative processing.
Fingers crossed things will go quickly for us and others. Allah akbar!

{A man used the mosque's loudspeakers to order suicide bombers to get into position.
"They have attacked our mosque, the time for sacrifice has come," the man said.
Hundreds of police and paramilitary Rangers have taken up position near the mosque in recent days in what officials have said is an effort to contain their activities.
Musharraf said last week that he was ready to raid the mosque, but warned that militants linked to al Qaeda had slipped inside and that the media would blame any bloodbath on the government.}

I just got an email from the embassy today so they are working even though it sounds kind of tense in ISL.
On our case, apparently DOS just COMPLETES a security/background check but it is still the embassy that gives CLEARANCE. Here is the response we got from our inquiry about what we thought was DOS security clearance.
"Our record indicates that we have a response from the State Department and that is in review. However, it is difficult to predict that the response is a clearance. We will immediately contact the beneficiary once a clearance is received. Please check back with us after a week
Yours truly,

DOS does security checks as well as the embassy consulate and AR/AP can be at the embassy level as well as at any other time during your processing. There are three main checks that are done at the embassy level in the beginning Condor, Mantis, and NCIC. Depending on what the CO decides or your schooling and job can trigger a Horse, Pegsus, etc. KJO hang in there and looks like your in AR/AP at the consulate level now.

This is normal and most times the one's answering the phone can be rude, hang up on you, tell you they will transfer to another department and your on hold for long periods of time. They do not have much information on your case and they can verify a case number but they are not privy to much information -- this falls to the CO.

I received an email, my wife's IR-1 interview is scheduled for end of November (!!). Good God! That is almost four months from now.

I understand your frustration but I am afraid this is the "price" you pay for being a US Citizen or LPR. If you are on a visa.....no problem.....your spouse can get visa with in a month....... US taxpayers' dollar working at best.

I am sorry to read about your long wait and I saw your timeline and may you be rewarded sooner. Our paperwork went to Islamabad in July 2005 and our interview was not until December 12, 2005. I asked for them to move our interview up two times and it did not help in our case. SH you are petitioning for a wife so I would email them again and ask them to please consider moving your interview date up sooner if they have any available times open up.

All visa applicants have to have a medical before they can be issued a visa. The I-485 is the AOS I see my error before I rechecked it. When you AOS you must have the medical information from your prior visit if she did one in Pakistan. I know she can get a supplement for the shots since the medical is good for one year from the date.
Vaccination Requirements All applicants for immigrant visas are required to have the following vaccinations, if appropriate, for age, medical condition, or medical history:
- Mumps
- Measles
- Rubella
- Polio
- Tetanus and diptheria toxoids
- Pertussis
- Influenza type B
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Pneumococcal
As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you
adjust status following your marriage.
*Mian had the dr decide what he needed for his CR1 and they did a few as well as an HIV test and xrays.*

Hafiz,
I listed all the shots that were required in the post of the K1 and it states on the USCIS website that you can skip the shots but must have them done at the time of the AOS. If she has not had her shots she will need to seek out a civil surgeon in the states and get them. They will determine what shots she needs and fill out a I-693A Supplemental Vaccination Report
