I have sent all the documents to my wife via DHL (just in case if emabssy re-schedule our interview), they said it will take 3 to 4 business days before documents will get there.
I am praying the documents gets there safely since there are not only docs in the envelope but the efforts of 7 months and hope for future and happiness for us and relaxation from HANGING in there.....

DHL is pretty good with that stuff, don't worry!
You can even send her updated statements and paystubs through email before the interview and she can print it out so that she has up to date docs.

I sent my wife all documents via DHL also, its pretty safe and fast also. I think it took documents 2-3 days to reach lahore. Also, just a side note, Dr. Romana is not a very friendly doctor. I have read people filing complaints against her to the US embassy. So dont expect her to be a friendly, caring, polite doctor - thats what I heard from people. My wife went there too, and after the medical she had a question about something, and she couldn't get to her, her assistant answered all questions. And guess what was the answer. YEH AAP KAY AUR MAIRAY SAMAJHNAY KEE BAAT NAHIN HAI, DOCTOR SAHIBA KO SAB PATA HAI, JO UNHOUN NAY KIYA HAI, THEEK KIYA HAI....... HAHAHAHA

The embassy replied to my request for an earlier date, by saying something to the effect, that they are understaffed and busy. At least I tried. HANGING in there.... though.

Yes, I am aware of the fact about this Dr. that is why I called my Sister (She is Gynachologist gratuated from Fatima Jinnah) and have her talk to Dr. Romana. My sister called her during her normal practice hours and she gave next tuesday for medical exam, One hour later my sister called again and told her to schedule it early so she changed it to this coming Saturday. Let's see how it goes.

Have'nt heard any bad things about the ones in Karachi, so lets see what happens when my wife goes to one of them sometime in july.

Thats all there it is, these days getting through immigration process= being lucky.

Always look down on those who have been denied or are not able to go through this process. There is something call "luck" and denying it could be a leading to Kufar.

How could denying "luck" lead to kufar? Are you thinking of "fate" i.e. kismat?

There are some who think that everything positive in life is a direct result of hard work/intelligence/etc. I may not agree with it, but it's hard to rule that out as well.

HEllo people. I have a question. Once the security clearance is done, what are the next steps? Does AP constitute of only security clearance or is there something else that goes on? Does anyone know the time approximates of how long it takes after security clearnace is done? I just wanna get some time estimates in my head. It has been exactly 3 months since my fiance's interview

As I saw in ALI1978's case that they took a week to issue the Visa once his wife AP was cleared.

Today 3 months completed after interview. CO told me on interview day that AP will take minimum 2 months and maximum 4 months. Lets see what will happen in next month.

Yes they do and if they have all your paperwork you just get the call from the courrier that please pick your packet up from our office. In my case it took a week becasue they didnt have original of I-134 and my wife went to embassy and submitted it. If they would have that already it could have been only 2-3 days.

Thanks! But I have seen is some instances that the embassy request another clearance. When does that happen? OR why does that happen. I hope that it doesnt happen for me :S

My wife had the interview on Tuesday, I called DOS today and the lady told that all the processing at Washington is done, and I should be hearing from Embasssy sooon. Alhamdulillah. Is this all that needs to be done here, or is there any thing else what is done here.

Desparado, The embassy can request another clearance. No one knows why or when they decide to rerun the checks but in a few cases some of the checks are expired before all are completed and they must be redone and all cleared before they can issue the visa. Try not to worry about something like this now.


Inshallah, her visa will be returned in a few days since her processing of prints in Washington is complete and hopefully all checks have cleared that were ordered at the embassy level. Keep us posted and hope to have updated visa in hand soon.

My husbands IR-1 interview is coming up soon (july 25,2007)... and I AM SCARED.. I just realized something... I was reading some of the old posts and now im VERY CONFUSED..

In the I-130... we wrote or NIKAH date as the Marriage date... which was Nov. 19,2003.. My "Shadi" "ruksati" was on october 12,2004.. WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM??? or am i jus panicking for no reason.. according to Islam NIKAH=marriage but desi culture dosnt consider u married unless you have the whole ruksati thing... will this be a problem at the interiew???

Technically nikah date is the date you sign the nikahnama which is the marriage certificate. That would be date to use by Pakistani and Islamic laws as you become husband and wife starting that date. Rukhsati is a social practice and has very little to do with laws IMHO. I think you are fine.

NO Problems at interview. You did the right thing. The date on Nikahnama is your marriage date. No need to worry everything will be fine. Good Luck on July 25th.

Islamically and legally the Nikah date is the marriage date, as the nikah nama is the official document establishing that fact. My nikah was two days before the rukhsati, not as extreme as yours, but same deal. You did the right thing. The delayed rukhsati is just cultural.

This should not be a problem as Marriage date legally is Nov. 19,2003.
Don't panic, if you are asked about this at the interview just tell them the truth as they know the Pakistani customs as well.

My wife reached there at 5:45am, there were 10-15 people ahead of her, but as time passed, the line got longer and longer. Before boarding the bus to the embassy, there was a security check, they took all cell phones. There were two more security checks before she entered the embassy. There was a long line at the entrance, and for some reason, the non-immigrant applicants were given preference, they were sent in first, so after after all of them entered the embassy, then they started to send immigrant applicants in. She waited about 40-45 minutes inside, then her name was called and were asked 2-3 questions about marriage, about me etc, she didnt have to pay that $380 because i piad at NVC. She was told to wait and have a seat. Her name was called again and this time there was a guy who went over the papers, I have sent and she has sent, she had to pledge everthing is right in papers and she signed DS-230 part 2 in front of him, again told to sit and wait, After some time, third interview and there was a foreign lady with a translator (because my wife asked for it, almost everyone asked for translator that day). My wife thinks its a good idea because it gave her some time to think about before giving the answers. She understands english, so when the american lady asked something, she started thinking about the answer and after the translation was complete she already had the answer. They took the finger prints and returned all the original documents, kept the passport. Asked 5-10 questions about people in pictures, about me, about her, what I studied, they asked name of the univerity I graduated from, i dont know why, but luckily I told her about it a day before interview. She was told that she will have the visa in less than 2 months. I am also attaching the file containing the questions that I made my wife memorize. All the questions she was asked were from this list.
