Anyone know how long sec checks are taking these days. Also, as I am in US, is it too late to switch to i-485. Biggest mistake not to do that and go for premium 1-140 processing.

I tried calling the embassy but no response. Also, sent email 3 times and no response. Anyone know how I can get hold of them.

Also, how does everyone know when Islamabad recd the papers and when they send out the packet.

PS the US consulate does not entertain Medical expedites until one is in the death bed!

So far only the electronic data is available and 6 – 7 months is the time in which to expect the processing.
for packet 3.5 you can check back with us after two more weeks.
clearances are done after the interview.

How about the the interview letter and packet. So from what I am understanding, she will get a packet with a list of requirements such as medical, police certs, and so on??

But will the interview letter be in it too, or will she get it after she returns this list of documents. OR, are these things to be bought to the interview with her??

Also, will she have to take all of my financials (paystubs, job letter, tax returns) with her to the interview, or does she send it in??

Fees, how about the affidavit of support fee. How is it paid, over there or here??

Oh yeah one more thing, how about the delivery of documents. I keep on hearing about AMEX. Will she get her packet, etc at her home or does she have to go to AMEX office?

The K-3 person gets the packet with the interview letter inside it along with the list of items that they require like the medical, police and financials.

She is supposed to get all evidence together and bring to the interview and submit it at that time. Only the CR-1 applicants have to return their informaton to the embassy before their interview is scheduled.

The affidavit of support fees I think are paid at the embassy but not sure. Laney, Michigan or a K-3 person could verify this for you. And she will need the fingerprint fees on the day of the interview as well.

Depending on where she lives in Pakistan they have a few different courriers they use.

Sorry I could not offer you any more help and maybe someone that did the KI-3 process can answer your questons for you.

You're right about talking with someone who went through with the k-3 visa, Khurram and I are looking at the same timing. By the way, My wife is in Karachi.

So is there anyone that can guide and advise me on the k-3 (I-129 & I-130 same date NOA2) process at Islamabad consulate????? Any help is sincerely appreciated so that I don't have panic attacks. I need my wife here with me NOW!!!

As you know I have the same day NOA2 as well so I scheduled an appointment with an immigration officer and he said when you send in the I129f immigration sends it to the service center that has teh I-130 on file and they process them together and your 1-130 is assumed to be processed in america with AOS as you have filed for K3. This is what he told me so I am not worried anymore and my NOA2 that came for I0130 says that we have determined that your wife will be applying for AOS using form I-1485, so I wouldn't panic about this if I were you.
Some of my relatives that gotten K3 from pakistan said they took Cash to the consulate and submitted cash so I don't know anything about Money Orders or bank drafts.
As you know my wife is also in karachi and maybe they can get in touch if our interview turns out to be the same day as well.Where are you in US?

A writ is not fruitless. The court compells the US government to take action on a decission. Thought filing a writ against the DOS is tricky as jurisdiction issues may arise!

oh yes it is.... if you been following along with americans united group you would know that!
having said that our case is not at DOS. its at the embassy been there sitting on someones desk since DEC.

AP is a matter of National Security and a writ will not move it forward at any stages. You can ask them to make a decision but they cannot approve or deny it without the clearances cleared.

My wife called me last night to tell me that she has received the Packet3/4 from the Islamabad Consulate. She was at her mom's so I couldn't get much details but my opened the packet and told me that the Interview was scheduled for 29th of May 2007 at 8:30am.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I have already pretty much compiled all documents that she will need and will send it to her once she sends me the checklist so I can verify that the docs that I am sending is all she needs.

Few Facts

--The JFK air train information was for my wife as PIA has cancled its Lahore-Houston operation. SO she has to go Houston from JFK via EWR

--I have not received VISA yet. But in great depression because i feel myself that i have ridden on TWO BOATS. I feel that one person must decide his/her professional carrier till the age of 30. and i have already crossed it. I dont know what will happen with me with respect to my profession as its too late to start carrier.


--My case status is AP. I have resubmitted fresh Medical and Police report on Feb 12. and till from that time no visa in sight.

--I heard that a person is on AP for 4 years of period. Such information is taking my hopes to an end.

Wow that is incredulious that someone was on AP for 4 years! My concern is that I know of a few persons on this forum that have gotten the visa and not bothered to update their cases and I did over the past month on this timeline page. I am like we need to keep this current to help all going thru the embassy. Sorry to hear that your still on AP and may all of you still enduring this be blessed with strength and this is always in my prayers daily as well as to reunite all that are separated.

I agree with you becasue we all are from same consualte and it will help us for time frame determination. It looks like most of the female are going throug under AP for 3-6 months amd males for 6-12 months.

It is hard to get somebody on a phone over there. I try almost every night before I go to sleep, and my wife is in Pakistan tries all day and you just hear the recording. I have emailed them and they have reply me that our case in under "screening" which I think thier interanl term for name checking. Now, they are not even replying on emails.

All we can do just pray with the belief that patience bears the good fruit.

embassy usually replies in a few days-its no use calling because they dont tell anything..

It's been so long since I called, so I do not remember the prompts - but once you get a human,, you will need the name, case #, birthdate in order to get the status. Do not expect too much more than "Pending" or "Complete" - if you ever get a "Complete" do yourself a favor and call back in a few minutes to see if you get the same answer.... that one burned me once!

The consulate doesnt tell us anything except the famous line "Our Administrative Work isnt complete yet" however when the wife called DOS a few times sometimes they say AP sometimes Security Clearance. The very last time the lady said "Your case is under normal security checks, the initial review has not shown anything negative" however I dont think this means much except for the fact that atleast were not under any kind of weird investigation........well atleast not yet who knows go figure! This AP bussiness is really frustrating though im not sure how everyone else is doing but this thing is really getting to our nerves....the wait is terrible! Anyway goodluck to everyone on their AP or AR. I hope we start seeing approvals soon!

I didn't know females were also going through long AP's. From the timelines I've read, it wasn't very consistent. Good luck to everyone.

My wife received her interview letter today and the interview date is July 31st. However, the American Embassy did not send any interview letter for my daughter. The Embassy in fact returned all documents that we had sent for my daughter.

We had sent both cases together and as per instructions of American Express, both cases were sent in one file/binder as a family case. Additionally, my wife's interview letter does not specify anything about my daughter.

I am curious to know if this is normal for all family cases or the Embassy has forgotten to even open my daughter's documents. Any experiences, ideas?

Here is the Checklist i got along with two DS-156, one DS-157 and DS-230 Part 1, they have also sent one more document for her parents info which she will send to me tomorrow as they had a problem with her net connection

One other person petitioned for wife and kids and they were approved earlier this year. I talked with him and his wife's case was at Islamabad before the kids and her interview was already scheduled. The kids cases arrived like two days before her interview and he contacted the embassy and asked for them to combine both cases. The embassy just told her to bring the kids on the day of her interview and all were approved and the visa was issued within like two weeks. I suggest you email the embassy with your details and ask if the kids cases are on file yet? Can they combine the interivew into one? I wish you good luck on this and hope you can get all of them scheduled for the same day!


ae4ever good luck on your parents cases and I am thinking those type of cases will be a few months out just like a CR/IR case.

To all those on AP it is a dark hole and no one will discuss any particulars with you. I know in the past DOS usually updates their files on Wednesday afternoons or Thursday mornings. Just call with your information like Laney posted and inquire on your status and like she said sometimes they give misinformation. In our case personally I listened for long time no change AP and then one magical day I called and they said the embassy had sent Mian a letter. They would not give any details and he contacted the embassy and it was a return letter to bring in his passport. All you can do is pray for patience during this stressful time.
