I suggest looking at the I-134 (affidavit of support) as you will need to send it to her, plus start practicing filling out forms which she will receive in the packet sent my the embassy: 2 copies of DS156, 1 copy of DS157 and 1 copy of DS230 Part 1. (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=k3forms)
Make sure she is agathering all the documents needed like:
evidence of our relationship: cards, letters, photos.
certified copy of our marriage certificate as well as financial documents showing you have assets in common, another proof of relationship.

I have a question for you. Some people have stated that the Packet 3 or 4 is if you are trying to get the I-130 (CR1) visa. And for the K3, there is no need for medical or police certificates.
To the point, my ? is if my NOA2 for both I129 & I130 were approved on April 10th. what will my wife in Pakistan (karachi) have to do? Will she just get an interview letter and show up with proof of marriage pics, tax returns, job letter, Fees? Or does she have to do medical and police reports and mail in. I noticed your timeline did not have much time before packet 3 and interview date. Someone, please help. I am so happy that we are approved, but am panicking too.

Guest my understanding is that the visa is valid for 6 months for entry into the US. It is a mulitiply entry visa compared to the K1 but you must enter before 6 months have lapsed.
Zeyad: With the K3 it is approved and should be sent to the embassy soon. Once it arrives it has to be entered into the system and then they should send out a packet with instructions for obtaining police and medical information. ALL APPLICANTS NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF VISA HAVE TO HAVE A MEDICAL AND POLICE CERTIFICATES. I am not sure but the CR 1 is probably just going to the NVC at this time and then they will issue the next set of forms and fees if you wish to pursue this course. If it has cleared at the NVC at the same time of the CR1 and both are sent to the consulate at the same time the consulate will cancel the K3 without any notice. This happened with my husband's visa.
Good luck. Right now you need to start getting pictures and evidence ready for the interview. Your packet should come soon and and I think K3 interviews are scheduled three or four months out it is the CR1 that takes a little longer to get on the books IF A MAN IS BEING PETITIONED.

I contacted The Islamabad Embassy and they said they have a little different process then other embassys, what they do is they send out the packet with forms like DS-230, ds156, DS156k and a checklist which does require a police certificate (Or As our police calls it Chaal Challan certificate) and medical as well,
Islamabad Embasy said in their own words, "On April 10, 2007, electronic data on this case was transferred to this office. We will now have to wait for the National Visa Center to send us the physical file/petition also. As soon as it is received, we will have a packet of information send out to the applicant in this case.Do not prepare anything in advance. Once her file is with us, we will send her an interview letter immediately. She will have around five weeks to prepare.
Before this office gets to hear about this case file, the petition will receive a letter from the National Visa Center."

My fiance was told congrats the day of his interview....that he was approved for the visa but would be placed on AP for 45 days. The CO said if 45 days passes and he hears nothing from them to call or write. So in terms of AP, nothing out of the ordinary.

right now the embassy is NOT approving men to come to the USA. thats the bottomline.
everyone is on AP thats it! apprently there is a directive from the G-Dubyament not to issue visas.
I was verifying if it is true or not .. and apprently its true because NO one < men > said if they have a visa in hand.
btw, AP is A TEMP DENIAL.. 221g.
TEMP DENIED can change to approval after the information that is needed is complied with.
in most cases the information that is needed is a security clearance.

Now that I know that my wife has to attain medical and police certs, can she go ahead to her local police station and get a police certificate now and her medical complete prior to getting her packet? Or do both items require forms that come from the packet itself. I was hoping that if she gets these done "right now", and sends it back, the interview date can be set earlier.
Also, I know over and over again, a few people told me that both, police and medical, are requirements for any process. However, a few also stated clearly that it is only required for the cr1 (I-130) and that is why it is done. The k-3 (I-129f) does not require medical and police, and it is done when she comes to the US to file the AOS (adjustment of status).
Last, I also heard that police certs are only for men??? So, if she does need one, does it have to be in a special "USCIS" format, using their forms, or how should it be?
I know "patience is a virtue", but living in Michigan, you only get 4 to 5 months of nice weather, and I wanted to enjoy it with my wife.

She can get her police certificate(s) now but be aware that each district has a different expirary on some of them. If she gets it too early it may be expired by the time of the interview. They do get visas! But after the AR/AP is done! A president of a country has better things to do than to make sure Pakistani men do not come to this country!

But will the interview letter be in it too, or will she get it after she returns this list of documents. OR, are these things to be bought to the interview with her??
Also, will she have to take all of my financials (paystubs, job letter, tax returns) with her to the interview, or does she send it in??
Fees, how about the affidavit of support fee. How is it paid, over there or here??
Oh yeah one more thing, how about the delivery of documents. I keep on hearing about AMEX. Will she get her packet, etc at her home or does she have to go to AMEX office?

you came BEFORE 2007.
there was a directive ordered that NO pakistani men will be allowed here.
unless its K-3 or K-1. those with Cr1 and IR1 will be placed on AP for as long as possible.
thats why the embassy is asking for people to get medical and new police reports. then they will place you on
AP for as long as they can. the embassy has NOT been documenting ANYTHING. if you call DOS and mention
" oh my husband turned in his police report and medical. blah blah" the DOS has no record about the husband receiving a letter and going to the embassy. then after they are done with you on AP .. they issue you an automatic
misrepresentation.
for the longest time I was lead to belive after the security checks my husband would be comming.

Just out of curiosity and Im sure others may want this information as well:
- What should the level of or seriousness of that genuine medical problem be...which may push USCIS/Consulate to speed up the process?
- Is anyone aware of any other website where we might be able to get more AP/AR Statistics specifically of Pakistani born males?

Hey all,
I havnt been here in a while..long story.. but anyways i just wanted to add myself to the "List"... My husbands IR1 interview is on JULY 25, 2007 (insha'Allah).
This whole process is so long and painful.. i have given up many times too... but i always remember a Ayah.. "...with every difficulty there comes a ease.."...

Fak the medical issues is someone usually that has cancer, a terminal illness, or some other illness that could be life threating or needing surgery.
I have not found any AP/AR statistics from any sites on Pakistani males. I frequent some other places on the web but this subject is taboo. I know when I came to VJ two years back no one discussed it and it was not out and talked about until Shonnie and I brought it out. Also, field investigations were not discussed I guess for fear or shame.

When I first joined VJ. I only knew of one person on AP. It seemed to be a newis concept. in that time AP was basicly less than 2 weeks. as time progressed it became longer and more common. People on here never talked about AP. information about it was hard to find it basicly related to students and name checks. now its a little more defined as " WHAT EVER WE WANT IT TO BE". There is no time limit on AP. There is nothing anyone can do.
I supposed the only way one can really tell is if they get a field investigation then they know the case is moving right along. right now I envision that all that stuff that has transpired in our case and may others did not amount to a hill of beans in china. our cases are setting perhaps in a box.. collecting dust.

you know when talking about AP to any politcian or attorney for that matter always falls on Deaf ears. because, AP is based apprently for the : security of the nation. I have tried the infamous numbers of people in higher places. but with no avail. we are all back at square one. so how do we use our american rights to scream our voice? no one is listioning to our pain or our cries. the tears we shed for our family members, the goverment dont care. I supposed it goes back to the time when the goverment told the military. if we wanted you to have a family we would have issued you one. thats kind of how this is feeling.

HP I see your case is a K3 and I will add it but is it for a male or female? All information is vital for stastics.

I feel the pain, my cousin's husband had his interview on 03-13-06 and he is still on AP. They have a 3 year old daughter, he only saw her once. Missing out on all the good years of his daughter/family. The government doesn't give a care. Now, I don't want to go through this. But seems like I have no option. Citizen or no citizen we will never be american

Thanks for the info Mary. This AP thing really is hard and harsh. we have called DOS and all they say is OH your case is going along just fine and blah blah blah i mean if its going along fine then why take so long....I have to hand it to you guys this AP takes a lot of patience and you guys have it....im still trying to figure out what is more important living apart for possibly years and then living together or living outside of usa but living a happy loving stress free life. I guess were going to give it a few more months and then see what happens!

I have a question. I came to the US last year on CR-1 visa and received my 2 year conditional green card after a couple of months. I'm leaving for Pakistan on Thursday for a week. Is there anything else I have to show at the airport to reenter United States or just my Green Card?

you know I have asked myself this same question 1001 times.
we have been on AP 2 years now. we think maybe we should look at me moving to another country.
the only issue keeping me here is my education, i am close to being done. I just dont know how to choose.
I have discussed this with family and friends.

nothing to show you already have travel authorization. just make sure you dont stay to long that your
removal of condtions dont laps.
