Hi
Congratulations ZAKI that your interview came on MARCH 29, 2007. Wish you good luck i just say u that u had to que in a yellow bar that is for immigration cases and the blue bar is for visit visa cases. Be there at time at 800am at the embassy. The immigration officer will take the appointment letter from all those immigrant cases. They will call your names many times like first you had to deposit your fees then they call you to check your papers and anything if they ask u to bring a document as they ask me to. I wish you best of luck for your interview and many many good wishes from me and other friends from VJ members here.
There is one thing i want to ask u people that they gave me paper of AP. They also gave me the pink slip and the consulor officer a blonde lady told me when i ask her about the AP, that we want to check if u had any criminal record and i ask her again how long it takes and she replied me again it takes month or months.
What the pink slip stand for becoz there was another friend whom i met on the medical day and he also had the interview same on MARCH 13, 2007 and he was also given the same letter.
I went to american express and ask them this and the lady said u are approved but u had to wait until your clearance come i m still confused so will u pls tell me what PINK SLIP stand for?
Thanks

Thanks, i have a question, how much i need to pay on interview day with IR1 category. I already paid 380 dollars to NVC. The lady from consulate told me to bring medical report only as other papers they already have.
I only have now wedding and some other pictures after marriage, some chat logs, and phone cards for my proof and school and diploma certificates as well. Are these proofs are sufficient ??
Thanks

All these evidences you mentioned are good enough. I dont think you need to pay at the embassy. I paid $380 for DS-230 at NVC and my wife didnt have to pay any fees at the embassy.

I need little help please.
My wife is finally arrived on Friday on K3 visa. Now I have to file I-1485 and I-765 (Employment) am I right? For I-485 what I have to choose Under PART2 Applicate type category? She is on k3.
Also she cannot apply Social security? am I right?
I went to DMV yesterday for ID but they told me they need proff of resident (any type of letter mailed to her on this address) and then copy of passport they will send this to Richmond and after that she is eligible for ID. Is this is right?
Please answer me fast because I want to file her paperworks before Thursday and u all know all application fee;s jumping to 3 times from April 1st.

Yes, you are correct and when you write in category put K3 as her category.

Social security takes at least two weeks to get the information of them entering the USA from their POE if they checked this on their application. You can go to the office and then ask for her a card.
Go to www.dmv.org and check on your state for the driver's license requirements. I know we had a hard time getting one for Ishteaq. He needed his greencard, his ss card, and mail showing his address in the states. Please answer me fast because I want to file her paperworks before Thursday and u all know all application fee;s jumping to 3 times from April 1st.

Just an update after coming back from medical.
I went for medical today in Islamabad. I reach 9:30 am, after filling one form then give blood and then X ray. After waiting 2 hours lady doctor call me and checked every thing throat ,eyes, ears then she told me to put your shirt off and she checked my arms, legs, feet, neck and after that check my blood pressure.
Again wait for 20 mins and male doctor call me in his room he told me to put your shirt and pant off

and lay down on the bench. He checked every single joint of my body and ask questions if you were in hospital, any major disease etc. At the end there were 3 shots on my arms and thats it.
That was my medical interview.
Thanks

Walikum Salaam Cindi,
Here is what I read online you must file before the 90 days but (If you file it too early, they will send your application back.) Someone else may know differently but this is the guide I am using.
Zaki you need the letter to obtain enterance into the embassy. Contact someone if your interview is in two days and no letter. Also, your evidence must be able to go under the window you can take the albums and send pics thru the window to them and they may ask to keep one or two of them. Good luck.

Hi ZAKI,
When u reach the convention center u had to go to cabin where they give u tickets for US embassy and that guy will ask u to show your appointment letter and then give u a USA ticket each ticket cost 30 rupees each so better take change.
Most importantly i want to tell u they dont allow u to take the bag with u i had a black bag with me with all my documents in it but i was told you are not allow to take a bag but put all things in a shopper bag so i say u to put all your documents and everything in a big nice strong shopper bag becoz i knew i got in problem and lucky me i had a good shopper with me so i had to take all the things out and put them in a shopper bag. It became a topsoturvy with me so its better u put all your things in some strong shopper bag and if your wife is going with u she is allowed to take the purse with her.
You can take a picture album with you and MARY is right u can show your picture album by opening the half album and insert in at the bottom of the window.
Morevoer make sure dont lost the ticket becoz u had to show them again n again until u dont come back from embassy back to convention center. Finally the bus conductor take the ticket from u when u going back from embassy to convention center.
Last but not the least had a pen with u as u had to fill a parents information form in which they ask your parents name their date of birth and also your height so remember this too.
WISH U BEST OF LUCK FOR A INTERVIEW AND THEN KEEP US UPDATE.

HI ZAKI,
It would have been better the day u got a call from embassy that your interview date had been changed you better ask them please send me email also plus the appointment letter of that interview date. I have been emailing embassy but they had been replying me so try to send them email and also call them. In calls i had very tough time very hardly i got someone replying otherwise it keep ringing so try your best that u should get appointment letter of your interview date.
To tell you that first thing that when u had to take your US ticket they will ask you to show the appointment letter and i m not sure that if they see that your appointment date is in april they wont give u the ticket and if u dont get the ticket u cant sit in the bus so it is imperative that u had appointment in black and white with 20, MARCH 2007.
Zaki u should have ask that person who told u that your appointment date is changed that u need in writing becoz the security checking is very strict and they wont allow you to go to embassy if u dont have the appointment date or the email from the embassy showing that your appointment date had been changed.
Only thing that is left that u can take a chance and tell them that the embassy had changed your appointment date but they will definately ask u the proof of that which u dont have right now the best u can do that ask them to reply u in email that ur appointment date had been changed from april to march atleast u had something to show in writing.
I know it quite confusing for you but keep in touch with them so they can response u.
I wish u best of luck again.

Hello everyone! I was looking at this forum for answers to some of my questions. OK - here is my dilemma ... I applied for my fiance on September 28th ... everything went very smoothly (more smoothly that I expected) and my fiancé had his interview yesterday. In the interview, he was required to give fingerprints. After that was done, he was interviewed by a nice white guy. He asked my fiance some basic questions, like whats my name, wat do I do ... if we got married or just engaged and simple stuff like that. He was nice and even joked a lil with my fiance. At the end of the interview ... he congratulated my fiance and told him that he has been approved for a visa, but that he has to leave his passport with them and they were gonna do some administrative process which usually take anywhere between 2 - 4 months. But he said that they will try to be efficient and would probably get his processing done in a month or 2. he was given a pink slip which he is supposed to show the Amex ppl to his passport.
When he told he that yesterday ... i was very happy that all is well and done. And this morning I started to look through the internet to see if anyone else have had a similar experience and then I landed on this site and my depression grew. Is it true that it mite take a year or MORE? This is crazy. I thought that all this processing is taken care of BEFORE the interview.
Can anyone please help me? Has anyone had an experience similar to mine? if yes ... wat was the outcome? I very anxious rite now. Does it take very long for everyone? or are there ppl out there with a better experience. Thank! Waiting for a reply ...

Hi Desperado,
I want to ask you that your fiance got a white paper also in which it is written you are put under administrative process. I was also told by the consulor officer that they need to do background checking and they also give me a pink slip staple with a list of american express offices and circling around the lahore office that keep in contact and it may take month or months. Do response me that your fiance also got that letter of administrative processing
thanks
So Ghattiya, Nair1 and myself also on ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING.

I hope u get the appointment letter by hand keep in touch and wish u good luck again for the interview.

Desparado, Welcome to VJ and glad to hear that your fiance had his interview and is now awaiting Administrative Processing. I will say that almost all men endure AP and that their is no time frame and no one can give you an exact time limit for their checks to be completed. Common names, travels, job experience or schooling all effect AP. My husband and I knew each other for two years, then married, he never traveled out of Pakistan and we had tons of proof. He also was interviewed and was very easy interview, joking and was given two papers ( one blue and one white and the white CO did not take his passport) and told our case just needed some AP and hopefully he would have his visa in 30-45 days; at this time not much was spoken of AP and I was scared and yet hopeful he would be here in 30 -45 days but this did not happen and it depressed me. So do not set dates that can come and go -- make all generalized plans. AP is a dark hole and no one will tell you anything during this time since it is security checks and or fraud investigations until they are ready to ajudicate or deny the visa. In our case his interview was 12/12/05 and was put on AP and embassy did not ajudicate the visa until 05/10/06 which was shy of 5 months.
Please stay positive and do not dwell on this issue daily since you can become depressed stressing over the what is going on? Good luck and see that there are others in your same situation and a few of us old timers as I call us that are reunited and still come to inform, support and wait on our next steps in our journies.

Welcome Desperado!
We waited about 4 months on A/P. Some take longer

. I do remember that earlier this year, rkhalid was only on A/P for 2 months

.
Mary is right, do not set dates. They will come and go and make things worse. After calling the DOS to check on our status at least 3-4 times a week for 3 months, I decided to stop the madness and call them only on Wednesdays. Funny thing is, even though I checked all the time, my hubby knew we were off A/P before me... the DOS customer service did not know he was off of A/P until the day the Embassy sent my husband a request to return to finish the process. I had to wait 2 hours for the DOS to open the morning after my husband called with the good news to confirm the security clearance finale.
I can't find the number for the Dept of State that I used to call... hopefully someone here will have it. After about 2 weeks you can call and find out how the sec check is going. Don't expect too many details.. more like "The case is still pending"
Good luck.. hope it goes fast for you guys!

Department of State aka DOS
1-202-663-1225 and listen for the prompts since they change often. Last time I called 1 and then O to talk to a live operator. I also found that calling on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday am was the time that they had updates from the embassy.
When you call have petitioners information like ISL XXXX number, full name, date of birth and your information.

ZAKI
I hope u get the appointment letter by hand keep in touch and wish u good luck again for the interview.
I went today to collect my letter i make a mistake that i went very early. I sat outside embassy from 8:30am to 12:30pm then i went inside and again waited for 1 hour. At the end the lady gave me letter just in 2 minutes.
The other thing that at my home village they sent the letter as well but i also collected it from embassy. Infect i was wanted not to take any risk.
I meet one guy there with CR1 visa he was rejected as insuffient proofs. He told me that he has all the details including pictures, cards, email print outs. One thing he told me that he met american girl on internet and then married in 2004. She lived with him only 2 weeks he also told me that CO told me that you married for GC only. He was so disappointed. Mostly ladies approved give one or more week to wait for their visa.
Please pray for me tomorrow interview.
Thanks

Yesterday i was watching VOA (VOICE OF AMERICA) programme in GEO. It comes daily on GEO at 0730pm PAKISTAN TIME. There was a special programme on indian students also who are coming to the state for better education and how indian students portray their culture and american too participate in it so it is something nice to hear it and it would have been much better if we could see about the PAKISTAN students or they too had to go this stringent procedure of getting a student visa. Its all about news from america in urdu dialect and it was said from today the americans rechecking all the muslims who got their green card.
So all are friends of visa journey who are in america do they hear something on this. I hope all the muslim who got green card must be a valid one then why its been scrutinized again and i hope our friends who are in state got a answer for that and let us know why its been doing again.
When i read posts at visa journey what thing despair me that some people get their visa in a week or so like philipines or other europeon countries but in Pakistan u had to pass this PROLONG AP and i dont understand what the hard and fast rules of that some get in 02 months some in 04 to 06 months and some to go even to year. I wish it should not take so long and all those who are on waiting list including me get to their destination and reunion soon.
THANKS

How can I have my name check expedited?
The FBI tries to process its oldest name checks first. Customer agencies will occasionally request expedited handling of specific name checks. Criteria used to determine which name checks receive expedited handling are internal matters of each customer agency. The FBI does request that the number of expedited cases be kept to a minimum in fairness to the other pending name check requests. Because each customer agency determines which name checks are expedited, contacting Congressional representatives, the FBI's Office of Congressional Affairs, or the NNCP will only further tie up vital resources and will not contribute to the expediting of a name check.
Does contacting my Congressional representative expedite my name check?
No, the customer agency determines expedited handling. The FBI's policy is to be responsive to our customer's needs given the limits of our resources. Re-prioritization from multiple sources would convolute the customer agency's ability to manage their priority cases.
Is there a fee I can pay to expedite the process?
No. Processing times are a function of the volume of work versus the resources that can be applied to the task. Paying an additional fee would not speed up the name check process.
I am aware that some name checks have been completed that were submitted to the FBI after cases that remain pending. Why are the name checks not handled in the order in which they are received?
The vast majority of name check requests are completed in less than 60 days. Of those remaining, the FBI tries to complete the oldest name checks first. The time to complete any given name check varies. There are many factors that impact processing times such as the number of files to retrieve and review, a file's location and accessibility, case status, and workload all impact processing times. Another factor that might delay the processing of a name check request on a first in/first out basis is the number of requests for expedited handling received from a customer agency.
My Freedom of Information/Privacy Act request to the FBI resulted in a "no record" response. Given that, why is my name check request still pending?
Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts (FOIPA) requests are sometimes confused with name check requests. FOIPA provides copies of FBI files relevant to a specific FOIPA request. For FOIPA, the FBI search uses the name or information as provided in the FOIPA request. A FOIPA search determines whether there is an investigative file associated with an individual—a "main file" search. For a name check, "main files" and "reference files" are both checked, in an effort to protect our national security, in addition to searching a name in a multitude of combinations.
Who can I call to check on the status of my name check?
The FBI will only respond to status inquiries from its customer agencies. Please contact the organization receiving your original application. In Citizenship and Immigration cases, contact USCIS for the status.

Hello Dear members,
Here is my interview story. I reach embassy 8 am and shortly i cross all security checks and when inside with my wife. After half an hour my name called i went window number 5 and submit my passport and the guy ask me choice of language in which i want to be interviewd. Waiting again for almost half an hour then called on window no. 6. Me and my wife went there and a lady wellcomes my wife in embassy and ask me few questions..
Are you relatives ?
How your family know each other ?
If i travelled outside pakistan?
Who is co sponser to you ?
After that she replied please wait we will call you again shortly.
After waiting 15 minutes my name called on window number 3 where an CO was waiting, he loudly said ASLAM-O-ALKUM, kia haal chaal hain aap kay in urdu. He was smiling. He told my wife to go sit as he want interview with me. Then the questions starts...
Who is petitioning you?
Where your wife lives?
What kind of job she is doing ?
When you married ?
Are you both relatives ?
How your family meet each other for marriage ?
When was my nikah and when was rukhsati ?
How many people attend both functions ?
Why there is long gap between nikah and rukhsati?
Tell me any interesting thing about your wife during your nikah ?
Show my both function's pictures.
He saw all pictures and pointing where i was drinking milk.
What is my job?
At the end he said congratulations and wellcome to the United states. He repeated this twice, but also give me the pink slip and told me wait for 2 to 4 months. I said my wife is going back to US next week and she is pregnant. He ask me in which month she is i told him, he said don't worry you will be there when the baby will born. He said minimum 2 months upto 4 months.
So my AP starts from today. My wife was lilttle dissappointed as she wanted to go with me back to US and not any single question asked from her.
Thanks for all of your help and answers. I think it is the time to celebrate. Now waiting when my AP will end.

Hello Everyone!
1st of all - Congrats to Zaki ... the most stressful part is over.
2nd - Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. Its good to know that we are not alone in this whole freaking process.
3rd - Mary - thanks for the info and DOS phone number. I called them up today. This lady answered ... and when I gave her my ISL number she reviewed our file and told me that its gonna take 3 - 4 months. I asked her that the interview dude told my fiance that its gonna take 1 - 2months. And you know wat she said? She actually told me that 'he lied'. Can you believe that? And then she said that visa for 1 - 300 applicants get approved in 2 months .... for the rest 299 of us it takes around 4 months. So now atleast I have heard from them directly ... and I will wait.
My fiance also wrote an email to the ISL embassy requesting more info about our case. Lets see how that works out. My fiance was telling me that the white paper that he got states that if its been 45 days already since his interview and he has not heard anything ... he should call the embassy. Sooooooo ... I guess we will wait till then before we start freakin out again

lol.
OK people thanks for all the support. Trust me it helps =) I am glad I landed on this site.
Good luck to everyone who is in the wait mode. Hopefully we will all be done with this whole process soon.

Desparado,
Thanks for your update and here are two more things to know understand about the embassy. When the paper says 45 days that means you cannot count holdiays or weekends; it means business operational days.
Secondly, do not get too upset if you only get canned responses from the embassy when you email them. All we ever heard was "This case is under Administrative Processing and once we are ready to proceed we will contact the applicant."
Good luck.
Mary
