Salam everyone. First of all Eid Mubarek to all.
So my husband just came out of "ITIKAF" last night and today I got an e mail saying that our I-130 was approved. Subhanallah.

Ok but I am a little confused. He still has his K-3 interview on Nov. 24. And I know a few people that have applied for the I-130 and they got packets and had to send them things to the embassy. I never received anything from them. I just send them the application got receipt from them and now almost a year later I get the approval letter. So now what? Now are they going to ask me for all the things or what? I don't know what to do now. They said that they will send me the letter within 30 days. Anybody know the timeline for ISLAMABAD for these kind of cases? I know alot of you guys are still waiting. Please help if anyone knows....

I am a little confused about something. When I file for the waiver for my husband if he needs it ( allah na karay) than do I apply for it here or he does it there. The posts that i have been reading have lead me to believe that he will hand it in over there. Yesterday I called some lawyer that my friend gave me the # for and he said that u need to do it from here. Does anyone know the way? And is it faster if I do it from here? I mean I did all the paperwork thru here so I am not sure.

QUOTE(hafiz @ Oct 17 2006, 12:38 AM)

78 days left
google pre paid legal insurance
then fill out their " call me please " there will then be a rep. in your area
that will put you in contact with a local Law firm. when ever you have a problem
call them- you can talk to the attorney unlimited and as long as you want.
the starting fee is something like 26.00 and its 26.00 every month.
you can also add your spouse on there * this looks good later on with the visa process *
I been a member for along time - I like it..
I use my attorney for this hellish AP process with questions
and I use him for my divorce, I used it for my interview with USICS.

[size=7]Hi everyone, I dont post on here much, because my family's immigration has been over for a while now. But I just wanted to let everyone know that my cousin who got married in Pakistan this year, applied for a spousal visa for his wife just this year. His wife had her interview just this week in Islamabad, and she was put on administrative review. She answered all of the questions without a hitch, because it was such a basic interview such as, what is your husbands name and what does he do, yet at the end of the 2 minute interview she was put on review. This is just a warning to everyone that women are also not safe from administrative review. My cousin has no idea why his wife, a girl, was put on review, if anyone has any idea let me know. Also if anyone of you have any idea how long most review cases take for women or even men based on your experiences please let me know, because him and his family are really worried. Inshallah she will recieve her visa soon, but who knows how long it will take. Later, Peace you'all

missinghim you have some time to go. The process takes some time for Cr1.
malias231, they should have told your friend why they were put on review. e.g. name hit, there has to be a reason.

My wife who interviewed approx 3 weeks ago was placed on admin review also along with another girl. The reason was a name match. In her case, fingerprint check was requested (I guess to validate identity). She was given a letter stating that the process takes atleast 4 weeks minimum and she should contact the embassy in 45 days if she has not recvd her passport. The embassy kept her passport. We believe that this is now a routine security procedure when name match with their databases and the checks will be completed within the 45 day period.

Anyone with CR-1 experience can help.
The NVC keeps the documents for some time, huh? 3 weeks?
Can my spouse pick up and drop off the Packet 3.5 from the embassy?
What does she have to take to the interview?
What questions will they ask? They ask in urdu, right?
Can I check the status of my ISL2006xxxxxx case number? How can I?
I'm emailing NVC, but they are not giving me a valid response rather copying and pasting stuff.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes once the DS230 and the I-864 were submitted it can be from 2 -6 weeks to get them reviewed and approved.
Can my spouse pick up and drop off the Packet 3.5 from the embassy? They have to match the electronic copy with the hard copy and told us we had to wait on the documents to be sent out via courier and we had them within one month of our approval and the diplomatic pouch sent to Islamabad.
What does she have to take to the interview? I forwarded my husband exact copies of everything I submitted stateside, he had to take pictures, emails, phone call bills, etc.
What questions will they ask?Very basic of what is name, how you met, when you married, who attended, any other questions like divorce or widowed?
They ask in urdu, right? They will ask if she wants her interview in Urdu or English?
Can I check the status of my ISL2006xxxxxx case number? Yes you can call and check the status but it is slow in updates sometimes. I know our case was completed but the line said that it was missing documents. You would need to talk to an operator and get them to tell you the status.
How can I?
NVC
1-603-334-0700 and have your case number and your wife's full name and date of birth. You can talk to an operator from 7:30 am until Midnight, Mon - Friday.
I'm emailing NVC, but they are not giving me a valid response rather copying and pasting stuff.Yes and the embassy will do the same basically if you are in AR/AP which mainly happens with men. A few ladies get a 221g for a name hit or missing or incomplete documents.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
.
Good luck on the remainder of your journey and I edited to put that once she gets packet 3.5 it will have instructions for the police report(s) and the medical and once you submit them back to the embassy they will continue your processing and will then give you your interview date.

Mary, thank you for the information! I really appreciate it!
I'm confused on the Packet 3.5. Does the NVC mail that or the Islamabad embassy?
If it is the Islamabad embassy, can you pick it up?
If it is the NVC, can my wife just drop it off at the embassy after they're finished?
Can they get the police certificates ready in the mean time?
I know for the medical part, they'll have to wait for the packet 3.5.
Once the documents are forwarded to the embassy in Islamabad, how long does it take for my wife to receive the packet 3.5?
I guess it is going to take some time for the NVC to forward the documents to the embassy in Islamabad.

I'm confused on the Packet 3.5. Does the NVC mail that or the Islamabad embassy? Embassy will mail it to your wife it is the instructions for the medical and police reports and what other documents they will need to schedule the interview.
If it is the Islamabad embassy, can you pick it up?Embassy told us to wait for it to come in the post. It was delivered within one month after the hard copy was matched up with the electronic copy. Go to my timeline and read it. I have every date listed out.
If it is the NVC, can my wife just drop it off at the embassy after they're finished? On the letter I have with the instructions says that you must submit it back via one of their specific couriers. Mian did not send me the list of couriers.
Can they get the police certificates ready in the mean time? Yes, if you wish to start getting them in order. They only took us about two weeks to get the two we needed.
know for the medical part, they'll have to wait for the packet 3.5.Yes correct
Once the documents are forwarded to the embassy in Islamabad, how long does it take for my wife to receive the packet 3.5? Ours was roughly one month from the time they matched both the electronic and hard copies. Both copies have to be matched to show it in the system for further processing.
I guess it is going to take some time for the NVC to forward the documents to the embassy in Islamabad.
Look at my timeline but they send them out in batches. Our cases we had two going at the the same time and the K3 got to the embassy and was cancelled by them since our CR1 arrived one week later. Roughly it takes one week if that long depending on when they ship it out. If it leaves at the end of the week the diplomatic pouches sit for two days then they move forward on their journey. I used DHL after the NVC told me when my case shipped and tracked it that way. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showuser=12292 Go to our story and each date is specified from the start to finish of our journey. Good luck.

I know I fumbled my way and had already completed the process and was the only CR1 going thru Islamabad when I found VJ so I edited my timeline and waited on the embassy to send out the packets.

Are you referring to the hard copy/electronic copy of the documents that are currently at the NVC?
So as soon as they are matched, the packet 3.5 will be sent?
You said "I used DHL after the NVC told me when my case shipped and tracked it that way. "
Did you forward the documents or the NVC?
If NVC, they ship all their mail through DHL? If I call, will they give me the tracking number?
As for the police certificates, is there a different requirement for everyone?
They don't have to wait for the packet 3.5 to get started on the police certificates?
Does it have the instructions on the packet that comes with the ds230 forms?
Thank you again, Mary! Sorry for swarming you with so many questions.

I took a look at your timeline. I have a few questions left.
Are you referring to the hard copy/electronic copy of the documents that are currently at the NVC?
When your case completes at NVC they send electronic copy of your paperwork to the embassy. They then forward the hard copy of all you submitted stateside via DHL and once it arrives at the embassy a staffer has to match to make sure all copies are there. So as soon as they are matched, the packet 3.5 will be sent?
Yes, within a few daysYou said "I used DHL after the NVC told me when my case shipped and tracked it that way. "
Did you forward the documents or the NVC?
NVC fowards the case to the embassy. I forwarded all of my copies and phone bills, and other proofs from my end once I completed at the NVC to my husband. If NVC, they ship all their mail through DHL? If I call, will they give me the tracking number?
No they will not give you the tracking number.
But I know how to track and will pm or email you the information. As for the police certificates, is there a different requirement for everyone?
They don't have to wait for the packet 3.5 to get started on the police certificates?
Yes, you can start on the police certificates if you wish early. Beware some providences only had a 90 day validity on them, others were for 6 months to one year. Does it have the instructions on the packet that comes with the ds230 forms?
Yes you will get a letter with the list of things to submit to the embassy along with the list of doctors for the medical. It has the DS-230 forms part 1 and II and you will have to refill out another part one to the embassy. This is what is considered packet 3.5 and packet 4 is actually the interview date letter. Thank you again, Mary! Sorry for swarming you with so many questions. blush.gif

Wake Up Islamabad Embassy
KJO
Oct 30 2006, 02:43 PM
Hi Friends,
I am new to the forum and have read through many posts here. I really appreciate the community spirit on the forum and willingness to help.
I am an American woman engaged to an Afghan man. We met while I was working in Afghanistan. We both worked on the same USAID project. I had to return to the US because my assignment was over.
We applied for a I-129F visa and I just got notification that the NOV2 (petition) was approved. I am trying to anticipate the next steps so I was wondering if anyone had any experience. Btw, the embassy in Kabul only processes diplomatic visas so every other type of visa must be processed in Islamabad which is why I am on this forum.
I understand that my fiance will get a packet in the mail but Afghanistan does not have a functioning postal service and there is no DHL to Jalalabad where he lives. He could however designate a place in Kabul to have it sent for him to pick it up. I had my lawyer send a message to NVC about it. But I thought I would tap into some of the wisdom here in this form.
So here is my question: Does anyone know if they can send the packet out by e-mail or if they would email him notification of next steps? It seems that almost all communication is done through the post.
Thanks,
KJO
P.S. Mary, thanks for your email. I did a search for Omid and sent her an email through VJ.

My Wife I-130:

10/02/2006: Recieved letter from USCIS, required copy of US citizenship even I did sent them as soon as I became US citizen on 09/18/2006.
10/31/06 - tried to upgrade again! - told to call back in 61 days from 09/18/2006.
My wife K-3:

Here are my questions to you all.
1) Do I-130 need to be approved in order to apply k-3 visa based on I-129F?
2) What if I-130 approved before I-129F, then what will be my option?
3) Once I-129F approved, that should I expect, I will recieve NOA2 right? then what need to be done.
4) Choice of agent? Do i have to assign to myself here in USA or my wife in karachi?
5) I need all information, anything that help me out in this entire process.
6) Usually how long its takes?

2) What if I-130 approved before I-129F, then what will be my option?
3) Once I-129F approved, that should I expect, I will recieve NOA2 right? then what need to be done.
4) Choice of agent? Do i have to assign to myself here in USA or my wife in karachi?

1) Do I-130 need to be approved in order to apply k-3 visa based on I-129F?
Yes, you should of had a NOA1 before you could submit the I-129f for the K-3 process.2) What if I-130 approved before I-129F, then what will be my option?
If your I-130 is approved ahead of time you will be petitioning for the CR1 or IR1 for your wife. It means that she will have work authorization and a 2 year greencard or 10 year greencard depending on length of marriage and will not have to file for EAD once she arrives in the states if she wishes to work.3) Once I-129F approved, that should I expect, I will recieve NOA2 right? then what need to be done.
Once the I-129f or the I-130 are approved you will get NOA2. Then the cases are sent to NVC. Also, as Hafiz says I give history lessons.
Click on my name and look at my timeline for the NVC processing.4) Choice of agent? Do i have to assign to myself here in USA or my wife in karachi?
Choice of agent is for the USC or their attorney to be able to speak for the overseas partner. I was the Choice of Agent for my husband's case.5) I need all information, anything that help me out in this entire process.
Sit back and relax you still have some ways to go. Hopefully, they will have your citizenship updated soon and your case should move forward more quickly.6) Usually how long its takes?
Takes some time and no one can give you an exact timeline.Love to hear from you all.

Mary, the I-130 does not need to be approved. It only needs to be pending! Like you said NOA1 is the only thing needed.
