I have said you do need I-130 to AOS. I quoted as that. but, ISL wont grant K-3. unless you are approvable! the fluke is you have to still go all the security checks. about time its done the I-130 reaches approval and in some cases Cr1 is at the embassy. k-3 was designed to allow you to be reunited yes. that is true. most of the k-3 at ISL dont see the light of day.
try explaining this to people waiting on K-3 for many many months. I for one been waiting for K-3 over a year now. so its not doing what it according to family life act is saying.
its always been the biggest fluke that K-3 is a option- ISL rarely let anyone exercise. but, agian the fluke is if you are comming from islamic country you dont get that opportunity. if that was the case.. most of us waiting in AR hell would have had at least the k-3 granted.

It is very easy to get a police certificate in Pakistan. Technically police department calls it ‘Character Certificate’. SSP (Senior Superintendent of police office issues it however inquiry comes through applicant’s area police station.
For example if you live in Clifton Karachi then SSP of District south will issue you character certificate however Clifton police station will process inquiry/investigation. Just spend some RS then everything will be done without any problem.
I think you should have to have that paper from embassy to get ‘police certificate’. Well you can try without papers.

look stress the family life act to the embassy. make your demands.

hello everyone. i'm still working on sending the affidavit of support papers to my husband for his k-3 interview next month. i have a few questions i hope some of you can answer for me:

1 - what form does the co-sponsor, my brother, need to fill out? is it still the I-134 that we BOTH need to fill out or is it a different form?

2 - i still don't have NOA2 for the I-129F, is there anything i can do because i've already called VSC and they said they will send it, this was over a week ago??!!

3 - i'm still filling out I-864 AOS for the I-130 process, i will need my brother as a co-sponsor, will we BOTH need to fill out an I-1864?

4 - how long do you think it will take for these documents to get to pakistan via USPS? what do you guys use for courier service when you send something over to pakistan?

I agree in total with scy. What is holding up the issuance of K-3 visa's is not the lack of an approved I-130, but the sad fact that regardless of whether K-3 or CR-1, applicants from certain countries are subject to that security check hell. A K-3 visa does not need an approved 1-130 in order to be issued, regardless of country. What it needs is the security clearance. The fact that K-3's aren't seeing the light of day as you put it nor reuniting couples sooner as the Life Act was intended has other underlying factors, nothing to do with approved I-130 being required.

I feel for all of you waiting.....I think its horrible *hugs*

1. I am not sure about which form you need the I-134 or I-864 (I did the CR1 and had to file I-864). Your co sponsor has to file the same form with his information.

2. NOAs and mail coming from the centers take roughly two weeks to come via snail mail.

3. See reply to number one question.

4. DO NOT USE USPS. I mailed things to Ishteaq twice and it was over 45 days arrival time. I use Fedex and it it there within one week to 9 days. I highly recommend using this courrier and you can track the progress of your package online.

5. The new rules states one year. But if you have three I would make copies to be safe since you are going thru Islamabad embassy.

It is always good to have your documents notarize from ministry of foreign affairs. Make sure you have English versions of every single document you will submit (like marriage certificate, birth certificate, job or any other supporting document)
Notarize your documents from your own city (if you are from Lahore then get the notarization from LHR

yes the odds are she will get granted the visa same day. they may send the passport visa to her or just issue it after a little bit of a wait. if they send it will take 5-10 days.

Atif this is the financials your fiance should of sent you copies of. Think in K1 it is the I 134 forms. You do not have to worry about your funds just the form showing the USA that you will not come to USA and go on welfare or federal aid.

Congratulations, embassy has scheduled a visa interview J great. As Mary, said normally visa section of United States embassy ISL issues visa on same day to ladies.

Does anyone know if embassy accept proofs of relationship in digital format? I have videos and pictures in DVDs and wanted to find out if embassy has some mean to play DVDs. There are 100s of pictures taken from digital camera and DVDs made from digital camcorder which are more then enough. For those who have gone through interviews might know the answers. Otherwise, I would have to get a few pictures developed and get DVDs converted to VHS. Thanks.

Due to security reasons ISL security professional didn’t let Cell phone inside the premises of the US embassy ISL visa section how could they let ‘any other electronic device’ like digital camera or DVD camera. It is possible threat. In my opinion take only hard copies of evidences with you on interview day and avoid all soft copies.

Psoft is correct. Ishteaq had a large card that was musical and when you opened it played music. They took it away from him at the embassy when he went into security before his being admitted inside and he forgot to get it back. So I would assume only paper copies.

Thanks, but keep in mind that I am not taking the digital camera or digital camcorder. My wife would only be taking the media (CD/DVDs) which can't be any harm. The question is if they have the equipment to play it.

Javed had DVDs but I will ask him if he was able to bring it in the embassy or not.

btw, perdesi. even if you converted your DVDs to VHS
you have to make sure your VHS fit the embassys brand of VHS.
example PK specs are diffrent from USA specs. having said that is not realistic.

First off once your case completes it is cabled electronically to the embassy. Then the hard copy is transferred. It is usually done within two weeks at tops. Once at the embassy they have to take the electronic copy and match it to the hard copy. Once this is done they will work on the next step.

First off I would write the embassy an email and ask if they have the case? They are very backlogged and the case may be there but the copies are not matched up. They usually are good about returning emails if you state all the information in it within one or two days.

thanks for replying back.. I called nvc today, the lady i spoke w/ she said that hard copy was mail out on feb 23 by DHL. i also rec'd letter from nvc.. dat my case was frd to ISL..

My guess it that they have not matched up the copies. I will try and see dates of packages for you from DHL.

you dont have to have nothing in the bank. you just have to show deposits for the year. I printed this out off line.

You can make copies of your bank statements and I typed up a letter and had the teller from my bank notarize it. I stated that I had been a customer since such and such date, what type of accounts I had and that my savings account held xxx amount of dollars. If you need the letter but they are not concerned with huge savings and all. They just want to make sure that you are above the poverty guidelines. Good luck.

anyone know why they would call my husband into the embassy? they told me that they wanted to explain the case to him..... I dont get it lol. when I asked if he can tell me why they want to explain it to him and not to me on the phone he said that its the law that they have to talk to him first before telling me. It was back in August that Ishteaq had his medical and it was a basic physical, blood labs, and chest xray. They told us three to five day turnover. It was three days for us. That is all I can tell you and good luck.

Wasalam, Islamabad is an expensive city and I think it is not easy to find a good hotel with *** facilities within a reasonable price. I paid my self around $200 plus tax (30% sales tax in Pakistan on luxuries) per night during my last visit in mid January 2005. It was peak season and not easy to find anything at any cost.
I think you may try Ambassador Hotel it is on Khayaban-E-Shuharwardy, Sector G-6/1, Islamabad, Pakistan.

rmash... all you have to do to save money is what I did, which is book a stay at a guest house , there just like the hotels but a much cheaper rate, we paid 200 dollars or slightly more for 10 days , plus they cook your food and bring it to your room and clean your room daily, thay have servants as well that do anything for you , i can give you an name of one if you like, the one I stayed in which was very nice was ....................Islamabad executive house, house no.54 no# 5, f8/3 Islamabad pakistan, tel phone number is 5128563313or cell phone 03335124651. hope this helps you out alot and find that its much cheaper then the hotels are, I havd a lovely time both times I went, we stayed in guest houses both times we went and loved it......inshaAllah you will find its good.

I reserved a room at the envoy continental for 4000 rupees a night, I think this is a perfect hotel i read the reviews and it seemed nice, and its not too far from the embassy.

Alhumdulillah, wife got visa today. Details are below:

Timings:
5:40 Arrived at parking lot (there were only 10 people in line)
6:50 Ticktet sales for bus to the embassy started and ticket was purchased
7:00 Bus left to the embassy
8:50 A Paki lady interviewed
2:15 An American laday interviewed

Questions asked:
When did you first meet your husband?
Was this an arranged marriage?
Who arranged the marriage?
What does your husband do for living?
Where does he work (company)?
Do you have any other relatives in the US?
Who else live with your husband?
How many times has your husband visited you in in PK?
Do you have wedding pictures?
Who is this (pointed out to a few people in the pictures)?

After the pictures she said, congratulations, welcome to the US

My wife took emails and a few phone bills but nothing else was asked by the Paki or by American lady other than pictures. Both ladies were pretty nice and even joked around and laughed which was enough to relief wife's stress.

They kept the passport and said American Express will call to pick up the passport. No brown bag was given either.

For those, who want to use the Shortcuts, there is nothing wrong using those as you are providing them the same information as they request, but you have to be careful and read the instructions several times before using it. If you are still have questions after reading, then don't use them as there are chances that you would make mistake. I used shortcuts and I am glad that I did and made my process faster. For telephone bill and emails, I have noticed from a few previous interviews that they don't ask for the telephone bill or emails anymore as they know more and more people are chatting and using calling cards so if you don't have them, don't worry.
