When Elena got hers it came in 2 packages one she could open the other she could not. The first time she got the wrong passport(someone elses) and her paperwork, had to send them back and wait a few more days for the real one at our expense.
Wont go into a rant on how the embassy should have to pay for mailing the wrong stuff but I wont.
Or how safe/secure it makes us feel about letting someone else hold our passports. That's pretty messed up she receieved someone else's passport/visa. What if she would've been someone who had always desired to go to the U.S. and now had a "free pass?"
Kind of reminds me how I would always see lists of social security numbers on government documents and at the very bottom it would say "this information is covered under the Privacy Act of 1971. Unauthorized use or disclosure of this information is punishable by law." Yeah... that's going to stop the identity thieves! "I was going to steal these socials... but dammit, they're covered under the privacy act. Shoot. Got me good. Oh well, maybe next time."
