I'm asking for a gf of mine who is married to an Egyptian (not a member of VJ).

She was married in Egypt in Sept. 2006 but has not filed any visa petitions yet. Long story. She is now wanting to move to Egypt while she waits for her husband's visa. Can she do a DCF? She has visited her husband once since marriage but never lived in Egypt.

TIA for any help.

One requirement that is placed on DCF by virtually all consulates, is that the US Citizen be resident in the foreign country, how long they are resident varies greatly.

A Good place to start is the website of the Embassy or Consulate.

So it doesn't matter how long they've been married, it only matters if she is a resident at the time of filing?

Yes, I was adding some links while you were responding.

6 months residency is what Cairo says.
