Hi everyone...
Well I got my visa and had it activated and all that, now I'm waiting for my SSN and actual green card to arrive. It's only been 2 weeks since we activated the visa but now we're in the process of purchasing a house and our bank needs my SSN before we can close (in 2 weeks). Anyone know who you can call to check the status of it? Any way to get it quickly? I checked on the SSA website and the two 1-800 #s provided both say they're out of service (nice...). Can anyone shed some light? Phone number, email address, anything??
Thanks
Darryl

Take a trip to your local SSA office and they will be able to check if it has been issued yet.... if not they can help you there....
Good Luck

You can as a K1, but K3s cannot.
Start here:
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=ssnBetter get it done fast because if it's too close to your I-94 expiry date they won't issue you one.

Thanks guys, I'm going to head to the closest SSA office tomorrow morning and get this process going....I don't know what I was thinking when I thought it actually might go smoothly through the DS230 checkbox deal....oh well.
thanks

Let us know how it goes at the SSA office. I'm curious if the SAVE system is actually running according to plan lately. My employment authorisation couldn't be verified by SSA through SAVE even though employment authorisation is supposed to be entered into SAVE when the card is issued.
For K1s and CR-1s, I have read to wait for 2 weeks after entering to make sure you're in SAVE (based on your entry). If you're not in there then the SSA will do a manual verification which is basically them filling out a paper form with copies of your passport and I-94 and snail mailing it to USCIS... ugh.
