My fiance has heard from friends that went through this process that there were ways t make it faster...She said hat in one case her friend in colombia got married or engaged to a man from ohio and that within a month and a half she got everything approved...does anyone know if this is true...i would do anything nto know what his process is so i could try it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There must have either been extenuating circumstances in that case, or it was a completely different visa type. And it may have also been pre 9/11.

There are very few ways to expedite a K1 case (for example, a military person who is about to deploy).

We'd all like this to be a speedy process and be with our loved ones ASAP. If this could be done in a month and a half, we'd know about it by now. Afraid to say you're grasping at straws here.

from what in was told there was nothing out of the ordinary...i think it was just knowing someone on the inside...which she is trying to find out...supposedly all they wanted to know was wether he had a car and property
~Nini~
If anyone could expedite their case based on "whether he had a car and property" then half of us wouldn't be still waiting for our petitions.

There are unfortunately very few cases which are expedited. Even those USCs who are military and are about to deploy can sometimes be denied to have their cases expedited, from what I've heard.

Talking to your congressman won't help at this point since they're only able to look at cases which have taken an unusually long amount of time to process (and no, I'm not talking two months, more like a year and going).

Well...........how long ago was it? There was a time when immigration was a lot faster and easier.

Best advice, never listen to hearsay. no ones case is the same, and no ones case will be determined to a deffinate time of approval and arrival. dont get your hopes up on what her friends say, they are not going thru the process, you and your fiance are. if you listen to other ppl, you will get hopes up and when they dont meet your expectations, you will be disappointed.
good luck on your journey

So you believe all of us, but yet what we say is probably fiction? laughing.gif

I either need more caffeine or I just can't read, not sure which it is.

At any rate, I'm sure if there was a way to get through this process in a month and a half, we would know about it by now - regardless of truths or fiction.

Just be careful with what information is given to you. Everyone (not on this site...but in my world...lol) told me all kinds of things. I'm a researcher and gathered enough information to be able to do it the right way and not make any mistakes. (I found VJ after I sent in my petition...sad.gif ) Just we very careful and take your friend's information with a grain of salt and do your own research. Maybe they DO know someone that can get you moved up on the interview docket or something. I don't know. Just make sure you know what you're doing before you do it. And if you do find out a secret formula.....bring in to us!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!

unless the lawyer is paying off people at USCIS (highllllly unlikely), then no. lawyers have no special powers in this process. no special hotline, no special access. nada.

when your case reaches the state department stage (NVC or the Embassy) it's possible you might be able to get help from a congressman/woman. until then, however, sadly, it's hurry-up-and-waits-ville. there's pretty much no way around it.

there are always odd cases here and there that somehow manage to shoot through in record time, usually for no good reason. but i wouldn't get your expectations too high. it IS a frustrating and slow process. you'll make, though.

I don't know what the wait time is in Columbia, but there was a time that you could get through the provcess at USCIS in two weeks or less...

IT WAS CALLED VERMONT....

Hola Byron-Leidy,
Great Post!!! good.gif And, we would ALL like to know this process to expedite this process to a very short period. BUT, the reality of it is that we are all in the same boat...and our applications get processed in (more or less) the same period of time. Currently about 6 - 7 months. Those with RFE's may take a little longer. All other things being equal, we are treated equally by the USCIS. There are no "special favors" or whatever to expedite the process. It is simply a game of waiting...and waiting...and waiting. My wife uses the term frequently, "PACIENCIA, Craig, PACIENCIA!!"

On the bright star_smile.gif side, I have found that by communicating with my wife via e-mails and MSN Messenger that it has allowed me to "see" more about who she is and why I love her so much. For example: Recently I sent her some money for a new dress and shoes to wear when I make my next visit to Bucaramanga in September. In a very sweet e-mail to me, she explained that she gave some of the money to her father who was in a difficult moment. So, I saw a very generous and unselfish side to the woman I love very much. Instead of buying a dress and shoes...she gave help helpsmilie.gif and assistance. I was quite impressed with my wife!! I am very proud of her.

We are relatively "new" members of the VJer's and I spend a lot of time "looking and lurking" through the postings about the process. I have great respect for many of the "old timers" who give help, assistance and good answers to the postings. I recommend that you "relaje" about the process and allow things to proceed at their own pace. You are very early in the process (As are we!) and the best thing to do is listen to the advice you receive from others on this site. Believe me...IF there were a way to expedite the process to 1.5 months...we'd all be aware of it!!!! star_smile.gif My wife would tell you, "PACIENCIA Byron, PACIENCIA!" yes.gif

Sincere regards,
Deron
I've heard this scenario before and there is some truth to it, but not for a K-1. Before the Adam Walsh act about 6 months ago, going DCF was the quickest route to a visa. If everything was assembled, a 1-2 month wait to visa was doable. Unfortunately I no longer believe this is the case due to Adam Walsh, and the new process is not nearly as quick. I'm not an expert on DCF, but the posts I've read on VJ about it seem to be inline with what you have heard.
