en resumen dice que tu caso sigue adelante con el nuevo numero de caso bgt y que sera enviado a la embajada de colombia para que tu recibas instrucciones y dice que se puede demorar hasta 3 semanas pero a mi me demoro un mes.

Nada Patricia, yo llamé en la mañana y Marc ahorita, cero noticias, yo estoy casi segura que lo recibirán la otra semana y aquí estará llegando a finales de Diciembre, creo que lograré entrevista para finales de enero o principios de febrero...

Bueno, ya falta poquito, yo creo que en poco menos de 2 meses ya estaremos listas con la visa!

Es cierto que luego le llegan unos documentos, al peticionario para que haga dos pagos, uno de 380 dolares y el otro de 70?

Para su información: mi NOA2 está fechado 19 de Noviembre de 2007, recibimos la notificación por correo normal el 24 de Noviembre y ayer 10 de Dicembre llegó al NVC!! ya tengo el BGT number!! Estoy detras tuyo Chiqui!!!

Dato curioso: este caso nunca fue actualizado on line por la USCIS, aun aparece como recibido y pendiente, solo recibimos el NOA2 por correo!!!

Hola a todos!!. Si estoy super entusiasmada!!!. Ya casito llega a Bogotá, que bien!!. Esto se esta moviendo rápido, ya era justo. Yo creo que me voy a encontrar en la entrevista con Yazz ha ha!!. Tengo entendido que hay un numero del DOS para saber la fecha de la cita...Alguien sabe cual es el número??. Hay alguna otra forma de averiguar la fecha, pues mi novio quiere venir a la entrevista y nos gustaría saber la fecha de entrevista, muchas páginas atras pude ver links donde sale una lista de fechas para entrevista con los códigos de NVC, el( BGT****), pero no he pododo encontrar el link!!

UPDATED GUIDE 11-14-2007

The following guide is intended to help K1 visa applicants going
through Bogotá, Colombia. Also this guide is only that, a guide.
Always check the embassy's website and call the embassy as well.
This guide was written for K1 visa applicants, both beneficiary
and petitioner that have no kids, have never been arrested and have never been
married.

1. Once your I-129F is approved (NOA2), your case will
be forwarded to the National Visa Center. Normally
it will take about 1 to 2 weeks to get from CSC/VSC to NVC.

2. Start calling NVC everyday about 1 week after
your I-129F has been approved at: 603-334-0700
press 1 then 2. You will need to reach
a live person to get information on your case since
the NVC’s automated system does not handle K1 visas.
Give this person your receipt #, they will let you know
the status of your case, whether it has not yet been
received, already received, or already sent out to
the embassy in Bogotá. Once NVC receives your case, they
will assign a new case # that will begin with BGTXXXXXXXXXX.

A. If it has not been received.
Keep calling until they receive it. Don’t pay attention
to their script. They will tell you it may take 4 weeks
for them to receive your case.

B. If your case has been received.
Ask them when it was received and if it has been forwarded
to the embassy. If your case has been received but not
forwarded, wait 2 to 3 days from the day NVC received it
to call back and ask again. If it has been forwarded, most
often than not cases will be sent out in 2 days after NVC
receives it.

C. Once you know when your case has left NVC to Bogotá. You
can now calculate when it should arrive via DHL at the
embassy. The norm is 3 business days. For example, if your case was
sent on Monday, it should arrive at Bogotá by Thursday, the latest.
(Your case will also arrive electronically from NVC to the embassy)

3. Now that your case is in Bogotá. Do NOT wait for the embassy
to send your fiancée the packet 3. Wait 2 business days to use
the following shortcut. Using the example days in section 2C:
If your case has arrived on Thursday it is best to use the
shortcut on Monday. The reason to wait 2 days is to give the
embassy time to input your information in their system. You can
also call U.S. State Dept. Visa office at: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0
and they will let you know if the embassy has received your case.

Shortcut - Fax packet 3 to the embassy 011-57-1-(315-4155). This will save
you at least 2 weeks if not more by doing so. I would advise to send the
packet 3 via courier as well (i.e. Servientrega)

Packet 3 Contents:
1. Cover letter
2. Copy of fiancée's passport (biographical data page)
3. DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 & 2)
4. OF-169 ( page 5 of packet 3 instructions)

The cover letter should be simple and brief. Include the BGT case #
on the cover letter.

4. Two or three days after the embassy has received packet 3, they would have
already scheduled you for the interview. You can wait until your fiancée
receives packet 4 to find out the date of the interview. OR you can
use another shortcut. The shortcut is to call U.S. State Dept. Visa office
and ask them the interview date. Once the embassy schedules your interview,
U.S. State Dept. Visa office is automatically notified of the date.
You may also call the embassy consular section for visas, only available on
Wednesdays between 2:00-4:00pm at: 011-57-1-(315-1566) for the interview date.

Packet 4 Contents:
1. Passport
2. Baptism Certificate (Fe de bautismo con notas marginales. Fotocopia autenticada)
3. Birth Certificate (Registro Civil)
4. Police Certificate (Certificado Judicial del DAS)
5. Migratory Certificate (Carta del DAS, entradas/salidas)
6. I-134 Affidavit of Support and evidence.
7. DS-156 (2 copies)

Embassy:
Finally the big day is here. You will want to be at the embassy no later than 6 a.m.
I suggest 5:45 a.m. At 6 a.m. there will already be a small line. At 6:30 a.m. you will
not be able to see the front of the line. There will be 3 lines at the front gate of the embassy.
You will want to get into line 3. Do not follow everyone that gets into line 1.
K1, K3, CR1/IR1 visa petitioners need to get into line 3. This may get you in and out of
the embassy quicker.

Tips:
If your fiancée lives outside of Bogotá, have her start getting the Police
and Migratory certificates ASAP. As it may take several weeks to receive
the certificates for people living outside of the capital. If your fiancée
lives in Bogotá, she can get the certificates in a few days.
Try to schedule the laboratory and medical exam 2 days before the interview.
This will allow an extra day just in case any mishaps should occur.
You will need an English translation of the birth certificate, get it done in
Colombia. It will be a lot cheaper and faster.

Hola a todos... Mi nombre es Giselle y me encuentro en el proceso de la VISA K1. El 7 de Diciembre recibi mi NOA2 y me gustaria saber que otra forma, ademas de telefonicamente, hay para contactar al CENTRO NACIONAL DE VISAS para saber si ya recibieron mi caso o si ya lo mandaron a Bogota y que me den mi nuevo numero de caso. Tengo por entendido q ellos envian una carta notificandole a uno cuando ellos hallan recibido el caso, pero de todas formas me gustaria adelantarme y saber antes de que ellos envien esa carta. He leido en otros foros aqui registrados en VJ, que han habido personas que en vez de llamar al CENTRO NACIONAL DE VISAS para conocer el status del caso, han enviado e-mails al siguiente correo NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. Alguien dentro de este foro le ha escrito a CNV para conocer como va su caso? demoran en responder? quien debe comunicarse la beneficiaria o el peticionario, o cualkiera de los dos? o definitivamente es mejor telefonicamente, si yo soy la beneficiaria puedo llamar para saber si ya recibieron mi caso o si ya lo enviaron a Bogota?

Hola a todos, llame ayer a la embajada y ellos ya tiene el caso!!. (que nervios). Según ellos el paquete 3 esta llegando la otra semana.

La manera más rápida es llamando al Centro Nacional de Visas para saber cuándo mandaron su caso a la embajada en Bogotá porque le dan la información immediatamente. También puede mandarles un e-mail pero se demoran entre 2-4 semanas en contestarle, esto lo sé porque los que aplicamos por visa CR1 tuvimos que mandarles un e-mail para empezar el proceso. No vale la pena esperar tanto tiempo sobre todo cuando se trata de visa K1.

Hola Giselle, pues desafortunadamente la única forma de saber si el caso ya llegó al centro Nacional de visas es telefónicamente, tu como beneficiaria puedes llamar, yo a veces llamaba y eso no tiene nada. Te recomiendo que lo agas bien tarde casi que a las 11pm, pues durante el día es muy difícil encontrar un operador disponible. Un día que llamé casi a las once, esperé solo un minuto para encontrar un operador, me preguntaron fecha de nacimiento del beneficiario (o sea la mia ha ha!) y tambien el número de telefono de mi novio y me dieron el número de caso que empieza por BGT***. Ayer miercoles llamé a la embajada en Bogotá y con ese número la señorita que me contestó me confirmó que ellos habian recibido el caso y que la proxima semana enviaban el paquete tres. Solo se puede llamar a la embajada en Bogotá los dias miercoles de 2pm a 4pm. Mi caso lo enviaron desde el NVC a Bogotá el lunes pasado y ya el miercoles ya estaba en Bogotá.Suerte!

I AM SO EXCITED...ya tengo cita en la embajada para el 18 de enero, pero estoy preocupada por que mi novio llamo desde alla y de esa forma fue que supimos, pero el paquete 4 nada que llega, y desde la embajada lo enviaron el 5 de diciembre...ENTONCES NO SE QUE DEBA HACER LLAMAR O ALGO? o esperar NO SE .

El ciudadano americano también debe de recibir copia de la carta de la cita (paquete 4). O sea que si no le llega al beneficiario (cosa que es muy común en Colombia), le llega al ciudadano americano.

En otro foro colombiano de VJ ví que ahora no se necesita tener la carta de la cita para ir a hacerse el exámen médico. Ud. puede llamar a los doctores y averiguar. Lo que sí no sé es si todavía se necesita la carta para los exámenes médicos.

Hola en los formularios del paquete 3, si uno no tiene hijos, se escribe: Ninguno o no aplica?. Se deben llenar absolutamente todos los espacios?. Que otros detalles debería tener en cuenta. Es cierto que al mandar este paquete se debe pagar 120 Dolares para que te reciban los formularios?. Escuche eso no se. Gracias por su ayuda.

Hola Patricia,

Aún nos encontramos en espera de la NO2, por lo tanto no hemos llenado los questionarios de los documentos que preceden luego de dicha fase. Sin embargo he leido en cierta capacidad dichos documentos. Los ejemplos que se presenta en el link por YAZZ son buenos ejemplos. En algunos de los espacios corresponde responder "None" y, en otros, "Not applicable" (osea Ninguno y No applicable).

Con respecto a que poner como respuesta en la pregunta que apuntas, mi recomendacion es que respondadas de acuerdo a las "intenciones" que tengas al momento de applicar para esta visa. Sospecho que al hacer la pregunta, tus intensiones no son la de trabajar en USA. De modo que responde "No". La aprobacion de la visa no está sujeta a tus deseos o pretención, intención, capacidad, disponibilidad ni ganas de trabajar en USA. De hecho, por eso es que requieren de parte del "peticionario" que provea un "Affidavit of support". En otras palabras, respondiendo con un "Si", no constituye una demostración o una prueba de que no te vayas a convertir en una "carga pública".

Respondiendo francamente a todas las preguntas te va a ayudar en caso de que, por una de esas casualidades de la vida, te cuestionen al respecto durante la entrevista (y por otra parte, lleva en mente que ser "ama de casa" es tambien un trabajo--- en caso de que te hagan la pregunta)

Y tu como vas?. Ya la embajada recibió tu paquete, yo pienso que podrás llamar el miercoles depronto ya lo tengan, ten a mano el número que comienza con BGT***.

Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. non-immigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. This increase allows the Department to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process. This increase applies both to non-immigrant visas issued on machine-readable foils in passports and to border crossing cards issued to certain applicants in Mexico.



Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee before January 1 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before January 31. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the difference -- $31 -- before they will be interviewed.



The Department is required by law to attempt to recover the cost of processing non-immigrant visas through the collection of the Machine-Readable Visa application fee. Because of new security-related costs, new information technology systems, and inflation, the $100 Machine-Readable Visa fee is lower than the actual cost of processing non-immigrant visas. In fact, the $100 fee was already lower than the cost of processing non-immigrant visas when the fee was reviewed as a part of the cost of service study in 2004. The Department has been absorbing the additional cost. We are now collecting 10 fingerprints from each applicant, and the cost charged by the FBI to review those fingerprints no longer allows us to do this. The application fee has increased twice since September 11, 2001, the last time in 2002.

Marc llamó esta mañana al State Department y nada pero acabo de llamar y ya la embajada recibió mi caso (enviado el 12-12-2007 por el NVC)!! así que el miércoles estaré mandando mi paquete 3 por fax y servientrega, no olvides que si no te puedes comunicar el miércoles en la tarde para saber si recibieron tu fax escribeles, yo leí en el foro que un miembro si recibió respuesta por email al pedir por escrito confirmación de recepción del fax, al parecer se tardan un día hábil en contestar, o sea agotas todos los caminos!... aquí te mando el email de la embajada y está activo: IVBogota@state.gov

Si mandas hoy por fax el paquete 3 escribeles de una así ganas tiempo para saber si lo recibieron y ya te quedaría solo esperar la fecha de la entrevista, que puedes averiguar también llamando al mismo State Department...

Hola Monica, muchas Gracias por tu informacion, yo tenía la sospecha de que las cosas eran así y se me hizo raro lo de los 120 dolares. Yo hize esa pregunta puesto que una conocida que trabaja tramitando visas fiance y matrimonio me ayudo en un principio en este proceso pues nosotros no sabiamos ni por donde empezar ni que hacer, nos cobró 200 dolares por ayudarnos a llenar los formularios que se mandan en el primer paquete, el I129F, el de afidavit support (I134)y otro que comienza por G pero no recuerdo exactamente. En ese tiempo no tenia ni idea de este foro.
Cuando le conté que mi caso ya estaba en Bogotá, ella me dijo que cuando llegara el paquete tres le informara para ayudarme a llenar los formularios y a enviarlos a la enbajada, pues según ella la embajada cobra 120 dolares por recibir el paquete, cose que me parecio raro despues de leer las experiencias de la gente de aqui. Ese es el origen de mi pregunta y le agradezco a Paulis por recomendarme este foro. Y muchas Gracias tambien a Yazz por la guia de instrucciones sobre los formularios. Y a mucha gente de una u otra manera me han ayudado.

Hola Chiqui, yo no llamé a la Embajada, efectivamente ellos solo atienden por telefono los miercoles de 2 a 4, yo llamé al U.S. State Dept. Visa office, marcas desde aquí 1-202-663-1225 presionas 1 luego 0 Y ESPERAS UN "VISA SPECIALIST", tal vez un largo ratillo como en el NVC y te piden tu BGT XXXXXXXXX y así te informan...ESTE MISMO NUMERO TE SIRVE PARA ENTERARTE DE LA FECHA DE TU ENTREVISTA ANTES DE RECIBIR TU PAQUETE 4... ellos están línea con el sistema de la embajada y te dan información, por fa lee esta guía que ya mandé hace unos días de cada paso que hay que seguir después del NOA2, te ayudará y es super valioso, muy precisa, mandaste el email a la embajada para pedir confirmación de la recepción del fax?... tendremos que pagar US100 (al parecer viene un pequeño incremento pero no se si nos alcance a aplicar a nosotras) en el banco, se lleva el pasaporte y el DS156, echate una leidita de esto que ya estamos en la recta final y ganarás tiempo precioso, la información de este foro es muy fidedigna, así que pienso que puedes seguirla tranquilamente :

can now calculate when it should arrive via DHL at the
embassy. The norm is 3 business days. For example, if your case was
sent on Monday, it should arrive at Bogotá by Thursday, the latest.
(Your case will also arrive electronically from NVC to the embassy)

3. Now that your case is in Bogotá. Do NOT wait for the embassy
to send your fiancée the packet 3. Wait 2 business days to use
the following shortcut. Using the example days in section 2C:
If your case has arrived on Thursday it is best to use the
shortcut on Monday. The reason to wait 2 days is to give the
embassy time to input your information in their system. You can
also call U.S. State Dept. Visa office at: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0
and they will let you know if the embassy has received your case.

Shortcut - Fax packet 3 to the embassy 011-57-1-(315-4155). This will save
you at least 2 weeks if not more by doing so. I would advise to send the
packet 3 via courier as well (i.e. Servientrega)

Packet 3 Contents:
1. Cover letter
2. Copy of fiancée's passport (biographical data page)
3. DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 & 2)
4. OF-169 ( page 5 of packet 3 instructions)

The cover letter should be simple and brief. Include the BGT case #
on the cover letter.

4. Two or three days after the embassy has received packet 3, they would have
already scheduled you for the interview. You can wait until your fiancée
receives packet 4 to find out the date of the interview. OR you can
use another shortcut. The shortcut is to call U.S. State Dept. Visa office
and ask them the interview date. Once the embassy schedules your interview,
U.S. State Dept. Visa office is automatically notified of the date.
You may also call the embassy consular section for visas, only available on
Wednesdays between 2:00-4:00pm at: 011-57-1-(315-1566) for the interview date.

Packet 4 Contents:
1. Passport
2. Baptism Certificate (Fe de bautismo con notas marginales. Fotocopia autenticada)
3. Birth Certificate (Registro Civil)
4. Police Certificate (Certificado Judicial del DAS)
5. Migratory Certificate (Carta del DAS, entradas/salidas)
6. I-134 Affidavit of Support and evidence.
7. DS-156 (2 copies)
8. DS-156K (1 copy)
9. Laboratory/Medical exams/Vaccinations
10. Evidence of your relationship (photos, e-mails, boarding passes, etc.)
11. Six passport style photos, 5cm x 5cm.

Embassy:
Finally the big day is here. You will want to be at the embassy no later than 6 a.m.
I suggest 5:45 a.m. At 6 a.m. there will already be a small line. At 6:30 a.m. you will
not be able to see the front of the line. There will be 3 lines at the front gate of the embassy.
You will want to get into line 3. Do not follow everyone that gets into line 1.
K1, K3, CR1/IR1 visa petitioners need to get into line 3. This may get you in and out of
the embassy quicker.

Tips:
If your fiancée lives outside of Bogotá, have her start getting the Police
and Migratory certificates ASAP. As it may take several weeks to receive
the certificates for people living outside of the capital. If your fiancée
lives in Bogotá, she can get the certificates in a few days.
Try to schedule the laboratory and medical exam 2 days before the interview.
This will allow an extra day just in case any mishaps should occur.
You will need an English translation of the birth certificate, get it done in
Colombia. It will be a lot cheaper and faster.

Hola Yazz, efectivamente mi novio llamo a ese número del DOS (el 202...etc, etc) y ellos dicen que no tienen fecha de entrevista todavía. Ya envie el paquete tres tambien, yo firme el OF169, ese tocaba firmarlo cierto?.
Si es cierto esa guia es muy útil y me sirvio para realizar mi paquete. El incremento es como de 30 Dolares aprox, espero no nos toque. Ya mande el email de confirmacion.

Application Fees for Non-Immigrant Visas to Increase On January 1, 2008

Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. non-immigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. This increase allows the Department to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process. This increase applies both to non-immigrant visas issued on machine-readable foils in passports and to border crossing cards issued to certain applicants in Mexico.



Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee before January 1 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before January 31. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the difference -- $31 -- before they will be interviewed.



The Department is required by law to attempt to recover the cost of processing non-immigrant visas through the collection of the Machine-Readable Visa application fee. Because of new security-related costs, new information technology systems, and inflation, the $100 Machine-Readable Visa fee is lower than the actual cost of processing non-immigrant visas. In fact, the $100 fee was already lower than the cost of processing non-immigrant visas when the fee was reviewed as a part of the cost of service study in 2004. The Department has been absorbing the additional cost. We are now collecting 10 fingerprints from each applicant, and the cost charged by the FBI to review those fingerprints no longer allows us to do this. The application fee has increased twice since September 11, 2001, the last time in 2002.

Ya queda seguir llamando hasta que te den la fecha de la entrevista! Marc llamó hoy de nuevo al DOS para confirmar lo que me dijeron ayer y ademas le dijeron que ya me habían mandado el paquete 3!, inmediatamente me avisó mandé el fax 2 veces por si aca, lo envié por servientrega y scaneado en el email donde les pido confirmación de recepción del fax...intensa no? si toca firmar el OF169, nos ahorramos segun experiencias previas como 3 semanas...ahora me queda esperar y llamar al DOS...

Ya casi Chiqui y felicitaciones Kellys!!! Claudia ya casi, no decaigas, esto es díficil pero ya veras que una vez recibido el NOA2 todo será muy rápido!!!!
