We have our interview for the Green Card in late July. Turns out my mother has a birth certificate with a date that is two months different from what is on her Spain passport. We found this out 6 months ago.

Five months ago attorney initially said the Family Book (with the same date as her passport) and her passport with an affidavid would be enough to satisfy CIS.

Now the lawyer says we need to try and get a corrected birth certificate. They had a case recently with this problem and the officer denied the Green Card until the applicant had the certificate corrected or had evidence that it could not be obtained. My mother is in her late 70s and we are not even sure it could get done in her small town in Spain, let alone in as short as two weeks. We heard from my cousin who went there months ago that she may need to actually go there herself to get it changed. What a mess.

Please advise on how important this conflict in dates may be? Or are we making alot out of nothing?

Any ideas on how we could get a corrected one within 2 weeks? Do we even need it?
