After what feels like an eternity, my fiance was approved for his K-1 Visa yesterday. Everything occured exactly as stated from the other posts of those who went through the Ghana Embassy. My fiance got to the embassy at 6:30. He presented his appt letter as his "ticket" and was let in at 7:00. He waited for his name to be called and then presented his passport photos at one window, then paid his $100 fees at another window. Then went back to the first window to turn in his visa forms, proof of relationsip (pictures, phone records, and other items he had collected), affidavit of support along with my most recent bank statement, and tax returns. And after what seemed like long waits, he was finally called to the window for his interview (The interview windows are like prison windows where you speak through phones!) The interviewer spent MOST of the interview questioning him about specific details about his job in Ghana!! He wanted to know A LOT about his job. (He works for a tour company!) My fiance said he felt like he was on a job interview!!! He was even looking on my fiance's job's website during the interview, because he asked him to name a few of his co-workers and asked him to describe the owner and what she looks like. The entire interview was no longer than 15 minutes. He walked out of the embassy at 10:30. Other questions he was asked:
1. Tell me about your fiancee
2. Where does she work?
3. Are you married?
4. Have you ever been married?
5 Is your fiancee married?
6. Has she ever been married?
7. Do either of you have kids?
8. When did your finacee visit Ghana?
9. How long did she stay the second time she visited?
10. Tell me about her parents
11. Where does your fiancee live now?
12. How long was she stationed in Sicily, Italy
13. Do you plan on going to school in the US?
When the interview was complete the man told him that he had done very well and that he was well prepared. He asked to see my W-2's and then returned EVERTHING back to my fiance. Although everything went well, his first and middle names on his birth certificate were interchanged, so once that is fixed they will issue his visa. He received his passport back with a yellow slip inside. He got an appt to return on Aug 1st to return the birth certificate and passport. He left the embassy and got the birth certificate fixed immediately!!! He says the interviewer was not very nice, but he was able to answer all of his questions. I will be traveling to Ghana on Aug 3rd with my family for our engagement ceremony and then my fiance will fly back to the states with us on Aug. 13!!! We couldn't be more happy!! We certainly could not have been prepared without the help of our VJ family. Thanks for all the prayers. And for those who are still waiting - Keep the Faith!!

Congratulations! My fiance has his appointment on Monday, July 23rd, and I keep reading how everyone had to pay a $100 fee. Is this something new? Or in addition to the $100 fee paid at the Standard Bank? I just want him to be totally prepared. He paid a $100 fee for the Visa appointment a while ago at a Standard bank and was told to take the receipt with him. My concern is will there be an additional $100 fee that he should be prepared to pay. Thank you for your response. Angela

my fiance paid for the visa with cedi's. 100 dollars worth. Yes, it was the visa fee. I didn't know they still let you pay for the visa ahead of time at the bank. I heard of it quite a while back, but no one mentions they did it that way. Was your fiance told to pay it at the bank? It sounds like the fee he paid, is the same as the one we are talking about paying the day of the interview. Hopefully there is no additional fee, as long as he has the receipt. maybe someone else is going to comment on this.
