HI guys ....need help on this

I applied for my kids K2 Visa. With my k1 … of course still waiting for NOA 2 …

There father want them to sty in UK for anther school year ….

My question is

If the Visa stamped in their passports same time as I am, what length of time do they have as maximum to which they have to travel to the US before it is expired? How long do they have in terms of time whereby they follow me to the states? good.gif

Yes the K-2 is issued at the same time as the K-1, and the K-2 has the same validity, (6 months from issuance)

The time should be the same as yours since the date of issue would be the same. Bothyours (K1) and the kids (K2) would be good for 6 months.

Since it appears you haven't actually gotten the K-1/K-2, you also have an option of "follow to join" for the K-2. The K-2 visa then just needs to be received within a year of the K-1 and would then have another 6 months to enter the US on that visa.

If you wish to do this then you would just notate that on the forms you provide to the Embassy at your K-1 interview so that the K-2 is not issued at the same time as the K-1.

ETA: You didn't mention their ages but the above is with the presumption the children are young.

Thank you tons for the information ….the children are 4 and 7……
If I go with the “follow to join “ from which stage will we start from …. Is it will so hard for me to do long distance paper work ….. can someone from my family follow up with their papers work

You won't be starting over when you designate that the children will join you later for your K-1. I believe you just need to fax the DS-230 Part 1 to the Consulate (be sure the medical and any other documents are completed by then, or will be by the K-2 interview), have an interview scheduled, pay the K-2 visa fees and then the K-2s are received. Just keep in mind to allow enough time for the medicals/interviews to be scheduled/visas received; as I said, the K-2 must be received within a year of the K-1. Once the K-2s are received the children will just need to enter the US within 6 months.

I know there was at least one other VJ member (was it raymaga from Canada???) that went through the "follow-to-join" process. Hopefully she will see this or you can PM her and confirm the details above.

If the K-2 process isn't done within that time, then an I-130 with fees would have to be filed for the children by your husband and you would essentially be starting all over. Once eventually approved, then I also *think* an I-824 has to be filed in order for the Embassy to take action on the approved I-130.

Hope the timelines and process work out for you! Best wishes smile.gif
