Is it necessary to make threads totally disappear for whatever reason? Can't the offending (if any) posts be censored or marked up? There was a Ramadan thread a short while ago that was made in MENA that I responded to that is now *poof* gone. I don't get it. I mean maybe if I didn't have cognitive fog issues it wouldn't be an issue but it makes me batty to think I dreamt that it existed you know? EVen a tiny note would be appreciated so I don't go nuts!!! wacko.gif

So now people's posts that are not violations of TOS can be removed because the OP wants the thread removed? That doesn't make sense to me.

ETA: I mean, not a big deal in this instance, I had only posted a recipe. But some people put a lot of thought into posts thinking that they will be read. Doesn't seem right at all, IMO.

Please do not read into it too much or make a deal when there is none. It was a topic about food and after 3 replies the OP decided, hey, I really did not want to post that topic. Such is life. If people replying reallly were interested in the topic and felt like they wanted to reply then they could start a topic on the same thing if they want to.

Well, then maybe I will start a new topic. Too bad my post is gone and I can't access it anymore.

Well if I removed the OP's first post then the topic would make no sense. As we discussed in a thread a week or so ago, this is just the policy. Good or bad it is how things are done. The good part is that sometimes an OP will discuss a private issue publicly and later on regret it and ask for it to be removed. I am totally ok with this. You have to remember that once google grabs it some things are forever and not everyone wants that to happen (and we all sometimes say too much publicly and I just want to give people the chance to pull it back in the rare instances that they do).

Start new threads every few minutes and flood the mods with requests to close. When they complain, say "such is life".

That's just wrong. The original poster doesn't own the thread.

Cool. I'll have that ready on ctrl V, whilst waiting for the requests to start flooding in.

There are many members here who already PM us with requests to lock "their" threads. As Lal said, many have reasons - such as in this case - many don't. Such is life.
*Marilyn*
yesterday I requested that one of my threads be locked and or removed because it was a duplicate thread...

*edited to add "removed"
Jenn!
I think locking and removing are completely different stories. JMO.
*Marilyn*
well my post was locked and then removed....

oops just realized I forgot the "and or removed" part in my post
