Hello everyone,

My husband is attempting to receive aid to attend school in the fall. I want to know if everyone ran into problems collecting financial aid? The school is giving my husband a hard time. What paperwork was required with your application for aid? They are requiring a lot of paperwork and they are giving us the run around. Please share any insights. Thank you

I'm going to college this fall, too.

From my experience, I had no problem at all. It was like I was considered a citizen when I applied (meaning I filled out the same paperwork and just added my alien registration number to pretty much everything that asked me about my residency status).

I didn't receive any grants so I wouldn't know if they have special requirements there but I did receive scholarships and loans and it wasn't a problem at all. Just fill out the FAFSA.

The most I think that they could ask of you is a copy of your GC. That shouldn't be too hard, though. Hope this helps!

Financial aid is not a problem, it is not considered to be means-tested benefits, as long as it does not pay out any cash to the student for support.

Financial Aid is discussed often on VJ

No problem at all.. Just have your husband fill out the FAFSA and his alien registration number when requested.. It's really quick, you can have that done online.. Goodluck! good.gif
