Hi, our AOS bill and Choice of agent form was generated on June 25 and I emailed my choice of agent (my husband) info on June 4. I have not heard back from NVC about accepting my choice of agent.

I was going to go ahead and download and fill out the DS230 and mail it to my husband, so when the DS230 packet comes to him, he can mail it back right away. ...then I noticed the form expired at the end of this month.

Do they really reject the form after July 07?
With the choice of agent email sent out on June 4th, is it likely that the DS230 package gets generated before the end of July? (Assuming the DS230 bill gets sent back right after my husband receives it ASAP, but not using James's shortcut)
Should I wait until August (when there is a new version of the form - hopefully) to complete the form and send it to him?

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you,
Credzba

Usually they accept older forms.
You have nothing really to loose, if you mail it to him, and the new form is different than this old form, then he has to get you to fill it out.
If it isn't different, then he can just mail it in.

I would bet the only change in August will be the new fee amount, because all the fees are changing July 31

Did you e-mail them regarding your choice of agent before it was generated? I see that you e-mailed them on 06/04 and it was generated 06/25, that's probably the reason why you haven't heard anything from them.

Unfortunately, your DS-230 won't get generated until August if they approve your choice of agent soon. I sent my IV fee bill on 06/22, they received it on 06/23 and they still haven't generated my DS-230. The NVC said it would be some time this week but I'm thinking it won't be until next Monday.

Don't worry about the expiration date of July 07 on DS 230.

Sorry for the confusion! It was July 4th (or 3rd U.S. time) that I sent the choice of agent email.

Thank you for your comments. I'll be waiting for more!

I noticed the same thing but had my wife fill out and mail me the form anyway yesterday. The DS-230 probably won't get generated for us until August but I'll compare the two. If nothing new has changed I will just call the NVC and confirm if it's ok to use the July one since it's only the date that has changed.

Don't even bother notifying the NVC. They discourage applicants to use any downloaded forms. But they don't reject any downloaded forms. I know, even the Embassy mails DS 230 forms that were expired years ago. I noticed the DS 230 forms that the Embassy mailed my wife had one month of 2005 as its expiration date.

Interesting. As long as there is no new piece of information needed I won't sweat it then. Thanks.

Actually, they are now sending URL's instead of forms so you can/have to download the forms yourself. At least, my husband told me both the I-864 and DS-230 'packet' were just letters with the link to the travel.state.gov website.

That's very interesting news, Erica. Thanks for sharing that.
Mononoke28
Yep... just urls which we knew of ahead of time anyway. rolleyes.gif
Jasmin
But what happens then if you use the form that's only valid until the end of this month? I doubt they'll be posting a new one right away..
Mononoke28
If there isn't a new one, then you can still use the old one.

This happened to us too when we where trying to do DCF in August 2006. I asked for an immigrant information packet (or equal) and in responce they sent me an .html-file that contained links to various forms online and very breaf directions what to do in order to do an DCF in Helsinki, Finland.

(The story actually had a rather sad ending. In August 2006 the embassy where on vocation, so I couldn't get an appointment for my wife via phone nor via e-mail, altough we tried several times. My wife had to return to Germany then and she later went back home to the US. We agreed to file a DCF in January 2007, but two weeks before my wife's sceduled appointment the Adam Welsh Act was signed, which made DCF impossible for a few months. So we ended up going for an CR-1 visa joining process that seems to take (for us) about 9 to 10 months. DCF in Helsinki would have taken only 2.)

I thought (maybe my misunderstanding), I-864 form that NVC sends out used to have a barcode, so unless doing James' shortcut and creating the barcode ourselves (which we felt like we weren't up for), we had to wait for the form to come and then complete it. In contrast, DS 230's form itself did not have a barcode but it had a separate coverletter with a barcode.
Does this mean that my husband can go ahead and download and start completing the I-864 now (before the package comes) also? Is there a barcode involved in the new I-864 packet (with the link to download the forms)?

Both the DS-230 AND the I-864 AoS package contain barcode cover sheets. They are separate pages from I-864 form which can be downloaded from the NVC or USCIS websites. I will be using an I-864EZ form to submit once my AoS fee bill payment has been made since I am not using any assets, just my income.

From what Erica and others have posted above, you get letters (barcode sheet and other pages) with links. I bet ours will be the same. In any case, I already generated the I-864 barcode coversheet, filled out the I-864EZ and assembled my tax returns/transripts for the last 3 years + letter of employment. It's ready to go once they process my AoS bill payment and generate the AoS form.
