I have my CR1 interview in Montreal in a few weeks. I checked off the box on one of the forms way back when stating "Yes - I authorized the US government to check me out to get a Social Security card" (sorry I'm so vague, can't remember the packet # etc, does that make sense?).

Anyone know when I will get the Social security card - with the green card? Or is that a separate process from another government agency?

At the POE you will give your envelope to the Immigrations and they supposed to take care of sending the papers to all the Departments....but in reality it doesn't happen all the time like that. I got my GC but no SSN so I went to the local Social Security Office and I applied for one. good.gif
