Just out of couriousity, I would like to know what packets 3 and 4 contain. These two are the last packets you send or bring to the embassy before your interview. I would like to know this, because I apparently need to fill them out, and knowing what I need to obtain and what I need to fill before hand would greatly help tongue.gif. Thanks!

Stabu,

Traditionally packet 3 is the visa application instructions and forms, and packet 4 is the interview notice and instructions (and maybe some of the forms).

Now that the NVC is handling the first stages of the visa application process for some consulates, and everything through the interview scheduling for others, the 'packet' terminology is close to meaningless for immigrant visas.

Stabu, like Yodrak said, 'packet' 4 is not really a packet. It's an envelope containing information and forms for the medical and where to schedule the appointment for that. Also, the actual interview letter and info on photo & vaccination requirements. The only thing you have to fill out is your name and such on the medical forms.

Still, twas a joy to find it in my mailbox smile.gif

Thanks for the replies!

So, now I know for sure what packet 4 is. Looking at your timeline Erica, I begin to wonder if packet 3 still exists for IR-1/CR-1 visa filers?

Stabu,

Sometimes you'll hear the term 'Packet 3-1/2' used, to distinguish between the mailings that come out of the NVC and the mailing that comes from the consulate prior to the interview notification for those consulates where the NVC does not collect all documentation and schedule the interview.
