hey everybody. im frustrated. and i dont know if anyone has any tips...

my fiance and i have been waiting nearly two months to receive packet 3 from the embassy in accra. our case was forwarded to them on may 14th. and since then we both he and i have emailed numerous times (using both the consular and usc services addresses). the first time they responded saying they havent received our case yet (and that was the second week of june). the second time they said they mailed the packet to james on june 19th. that was exciting, except that we got that response around june 30th, and james had still not received it (and he and his po address are right in accra). james also has tried calling to no avail, and when he went directly to the embassy, they wouldn't allow him in even with all the approvals papers and everything.

i emailed them again last week, and this time they have refused to reply. tomorrow i will contact my senator... but i just dont know why this is causing us such a hold up. it bothers me because he has all the things ready for packet 3. we want to return it and get packet 4 with the interview date. the longer we have to wait for packet 4, the further out that interview date will be. ??? wacko.gif ??? aii, i am kind of exhausted! thanks for letting me vent. if anyone has any insight, we would really appreciate it...

I am so sorry to hear that this is happening to you!! The exact same thing happened to me and my fiance back in February. The NVC said the case was sent to Accra on Jan 31, but Accra continued to deny receipt of the case. I kept emailing the embassy and kept getting the same response that they have not received it. My fiance finally recevied a letter in the mail in March dated for February 12!! When I emailed the lady to tell her that he had gotten a letter in the mail, she still didn't believe me!!! I had already contacted my Senator, who was very helpful in trying to locate the "lost case". My suggestion: Contact your State Senator's office immediately so they can place an inquiry into the situation. Tell your fiance to check his mail frequently - hopefully it will show up... I've found out in my dealings with the Embassy there in Accra that the left hand often knows not what the right had does... Also in the defense of the embassy there in Accra, they did recently move to a new office, so there may be a few delays related to the move...

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance...

I just noticed in your timeline that your Engagment Party is on August 11.... SO IS OURS!! My family and I are traveling to Accra on August 3 for the engagement ceremony!! If all goes well with my fiance's visa interview on Thursday, he will be flying back with us on the 13th!! I have been in your shoes, so I know how frustrated you both are. Keep the faith and I am praying that all will go well with your case...

Sankofa, I just noticed that too! How exciting!!! My family and I are also traveling to Ghana the first of August. Maybe we will run into you. smile.gif And GOOD LUCK to your fiance tomorrow! Surely all will go well! I will say some prayers for you both as well. I would love to hear how it goes, be sure to let us know! smile.gif

And thanks to both of you for replying. We were wondering if the move maybe effected things... I will definitely call my senator just so that they know at the embassy we are serious about this. We will keep fighting.

hey there!

my husband and i also waited a long time for our packet 3 (about 2 months). what we did was this: my husband took copies of our approval notices to the embassy and he received packet 3 in his hand. he then returned the very next day and received packet 4 with the interview date. so i suggest that your fiance try going there again with the approval notices. did you receive something that says your fiance should go to the embassy? i ask this because the embassy also sent me a letter (at my address in the usa) which stated that my husband may come to the embassy and pick up "important visa forms". so my husband also took a copy of that notice as well along with him. the accra embassy can be a bit nutty, but STAY ON THEM! hang in there. you are gonna get through this soon!

i hope i helped some :-)
