I am helping my SO fill out the forms in Packet 4. Is the CPF card considered a national identification card in Brazil? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Luis&Laura
I am pretty sure I used my RG for the identification asked. The CPF is more important for tax purposes.

I think that my husband used his RG - although I've read cases where Brazilians have used their CPF. I'd assume that the RG would be the better choice (like Laura said). I'm the USC and have a CPF.... whistling.gif

If you have to use 1 of them for identification RG comes first. Like Laura say, CPF is more for taxes purposes, to open a bank account, buy a house, order cable tv, but you always have to show RG and CPF, it's never only CPF, after all RG has your picture, CPF doesn't.

Anyway, I wasn't asked to see my RG in the interview, so I'd say you can use either identifications number, even thought the RG would be the "better" choice.

Thanks!
