Thanks again to all who wished us lots of luck. Here is all the info that happened today at the embassy in Accra. We arrived a little before 7am and waited outside. After that did the usual of going in and waiting. They made me sit at the front til 8:30 and then let me go sit in the US waiting area. While I was waiting in the front building my fiance came back to me to collect more money to pay for the visa. The exchange rate was different where we exchanged the 100, we had got 92 cedi's back. so anyway I would make sure I had the 95 cedi's. it was sooooo cold waiting inside. but their new building is very nice inside. my fiance said, the bathrooms are so modern, I was looking where to flush the toilet and soon it flushed on it's own. lol. so they gave him a form to fill and pay for the visa. then sat again and the next guy(ghanaian) collected all the documents. He said the man was very nice. they did not want ds-230 part 2 or ds-157. the man said who asked you to fill out ds-230 part 2?? Solo, just told them he thought he had to. they did not want to see most of the documents I prepared. just the usual forms from him and tax returns from me and co-sponsor. pictures, emails & cards(they said we had too many of), phone records, I think that was it. after they collected those he waited again and was finally called at 11:30am for the interview. I saw him go to the window and I was getting nervous. He was standing at the window for just a second and Solo called me over there to talk to the man. here is the list of questions he asked us, most of them we towards me and it was not even my interview:
These were the questions they asked me:
Is this your fiance?
Are you here with peace corps?
Are you willing to support him?
How do your parents feel about you getting married?
Do your parents like your fiance?
What I do for a living?
He asked me what my fiance is majoring in at the university?
How old am I?
How did you meet?
What is the name of the person who introduced us?
Where did I meet her(which was his mom who introduced us)?
He wanted to know exactly how she decided to put us on the phone together the first day we spoke.
Are you both christian? and for us both to state what denomination
What were the dates that I have been to Ghana?
Are you taking him away with you this time?
Why do I love my fiance?
What was the exact date you two got engaged?

Here are Solo's questions:
What are your fiance's interests?
Where is your fiance? He told them I'm right over there waiting for him to finish.
He wanted to know why I was in the building?
That's when Solo called me over there to talk to the man.
Why does he love me?
How many sisters and brothers do I have? and what their names are. (which he only knows one name because I only talk about one and I have a complex family to remember all them, but the officer was ok with that).
How old are you?
What does your fiance's parents do for a living?
Have you talked to her parents?
What have you and her mom talked about?
What is her mom's name?
Did his mom pay me to file for him?
What year of schooling is he in?
Are you going to leave behind school?
Are you planning to work or go to school in the US? (He said he was going to do both)
What does your fiance do that makes you mad? Solo told him nothing, we don't argue. So then the man looked at him as if he need to have something to say, and he said Nothing!!?? Then Solo told him an example that I don't like paying for a taxi because they charge too much, that I would rather take a tro. The man was pleased with that response and commented that he knows tro-tro's.
When are you leaving to the US?

The consular officer said he doesn't see anything wrong. Then he was advising me that Ghanaian men are usually out to get a visa and not to get married. That's why he's asking me all these questions. I told him we have been together for just about 2 years and I don't think that is our case. He asked me if I lived in Florida and then told Solo that Florida's weather is just about like Accra weather. I asked him has he lived in Florida, he said his wife is from there. He gave him a blue slip to return on Friday the 13th, for the visa and said congratulations. The man was very friendly and Solo said I kept praying for that particular man to interview me, because he seemed nice. That's about it. Let me know if anyone wants to know anything else. I'll get off this computer now.

Thank you for sharing the details of your interview. My fiance has his interview on July 25th and I am so worried. But you have given me hope, especially on your fiance being able to pick up his visa on Friday. I pray that my fiance gets as nice of interviewer as you and your fiance. Again, congratulations!

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. I'm so happy everything went well for us. Though now he is still waiting for the visa due to a slow machine. Who knows?!

I just read your post about the embassy is asking that you return on the 22nd to pick up the Visa. Were you able to speak with someone about this? We have our appointment on the 23rd, and he has a plane ticket for August 1st. The good news is that his ticket is changeable without a fee, the bad news is that are wedding is scheduled for August 10th. So, if that machine (if that is really the problem) is not fixed by the time he has his appointment, then I might be in some trouble. Do you think we should be calling our congressperson to have them check on the Visa machine? Or do you think we should be calling the Embassy ourselves? I am now starting to worry. I do hope that I am able to read that your fiance has his visa in hand...and soon. Please keep us posted. Thanks! Angela

To tell you the truth, I didn't think of calling the embassy. I was praying he will get it this Friday. I don't know if I mentioned this in the other post, about the other people in line the same day he went to get it, said they have been there 2 times and still nothing. Well, lets see what happens this Friday, I definately will let you know. I have doubts that the machine is slow, they do have a lot of lottery winners this time of year, maybe there is too many people to print them for and they are taking their time. I would say try not to worry, but then again you have plans right around the corner. I'm going to claim that he'll get it this friday, lets see.

This may not be so important, but thought it may help someone. My fiance was given a lot of papers in package 3 and 4, a couple papers said that he needed passport pictures on the day of his interview. One paper said to bring 2 and another said to bring 3. The place he had them taken at, he asked them how many for a K-1 visa. The man said 2 and seemed to be quite confident. The day of the interview he gave the passport pics with the rest of the documents and was asked where is the 3rd photo? He explained to them about the paper work he was given, one said 2 and the other 3. So the man said ok. He didn't make him get another and didn't say any more about it. Though, I would recommend 3, to save any problems.

congrads on the approval and thank you for the details. i hope the visa is issued this friday, all the best!

Quick question...what documents did the embassy require for the I-134?

The only documents they wanted along with the I-134, was the tax returns!! I provided 04, 05 & 06. We brought to the embassy my paystubs, letter from employer and bank statements. They said all we need is tax returns. Same thing for my co-sponsor, they just wanted the I-134 and tax returns. My stepdad was the co-sponsor and he only gave me tax returns for 05 & 06. They didn't seem to mind about only giving 2 years. They also did not want his letter from employer or bank statements. Hope this helps

I guess it is better to be fully prepared.
Thanks for the info.
