If a post is made invisible, can the mods PM the person involved to tell them and explain why. This is simple forum etiquette IMHO.

I just wanted to say that the other day a mod informed me through a PM that they had made one of my posts invisible...

but I am not sure if they do this every time.....

Remember that thread from a few weeks ago that is now 'invisible'? The one that talked about ownership of threads & explanations of mods' decisions?

They don't. A post I made last night mysteriously dissappeared, with no explanation. I wonder who censored it? *cough* mags *cough*.

You can PM them all & see if they fess up.

Dr LHA ~ I'm sure that your request has been duly noted by all of the mods and will be discussed and taken on board. I myself do tend to PM the person/persons involved as I'm sure do the other mods. However, there will be the occasional one that "slips through the net".

There is no need to "fess up". As mentioned by Captain Ewok in a previous thread, any issues regarding our actions and decisions should be taken up with him via PM. Please don't turn this thread into another "bash-the-mods-a-thon".

This is a site issue I'm sure many would care to know about, hence the question in an open forum, not a PM.

I think we all try to message the OP when anything is moderated. We are human and sometimes forget so that can indeed happen. My apologies when it does. PM me anytime though if you have questions -- there is nothing mysterious here like some might have you believe -- we are just human.

OK Devillete I answered the public question. Please PM me on individual follow ups. Again if something was indeed modded and no PM was sent it was just a human oversight -- it happens and I am sorry if a PM was mistakenly not sent.

Dr LHA, I just looked at all your posts in the last 24 hours and can not find any that were made invisible. Can you PM me the location so I can follow up?

I just checked a second time and can not find anything. I also just checked the moderation logs and do not see any posts from yesterday afternoon to now being made invisible.

maybe the OP thought he posted it but because of a browser mishap or something it wasn't?

Violations of TOS typically. Sometimes this is subjective but we try as best as possible to be fair.

There are numerous reasons why a thread and/or post are removed/deleted. Please review the TOS for guidance.
