My pasport expires in Feb 08. Anyone know if there is a conslate in Houston????

here's info on getting a Canadian passport if you live in the US http://www.ppt.gc.ca/usa/index.aspx?lang=e

You can pick up the application form at a Canadian consulate I think, (there's a downloadable form on the link above) but you still have to mail to Gatineau to have it processed.

To apply for the new passport you will have to send the application to Gatineau (Hull).

You will also have to be prepared to wait; current processing time is 15 weeks up from 8 in March.

Yeah, that difficulty (of having to send the passport to Canada) has been around since at least 1997 (my just-prior-to-last renewal; I have not renewed my more-recently expired one due to having Yank passport).

Hopefully they'll make out of country Canadian passport "renewals" a lot easier in the future!
