Hey all,

Just found this amazing repository of info on visa processing. After going through the K-1 visa process and successfully getting everything done in England (I am English, my wife is American), we were married on June 9th this year, and filed my AOS/IED packet on June 22nd to the USCIS Service Center in St. Albans VT (We live in Baltimore, MD). I noticed most people here on the timeline has received a receipt or biometrics appointment pretty soon after filing. I tracked the package, and it was received by USCIS on the 25th. My greatest concern is that they have not yet cashed the cheque for the fees. I could understand and wouldn't worry about a general delay, but figured they'd take the money from my bank pretty quickly!

Anyone having similar experiences, or know any way I can follow this up? My INS receipt number doesn't find anything on the USCIS online system. Every other part of my application went very smoothly, and there are no red flags on my application or anything quirky about anything.

At least I'm here, with my new wife, very happy.

Thanks everyone.

You have sent your AOS to the wrong address it should have been sent to the Chicago lockbox.... you should get the packet returned in a few weeks and then you can resend it to the correct place.....

Yup, you should of mailed it to the chicago lock box listed on the I-485 form, hence why the checks have not as yet been cashed.

The service center will most likely forward it to the appropriate place but you may want to try and follow up on that. Did you make a complete copy of the AOS petition? Good luck to you good.gif

Most people who send to the wrong place get their packet returned to then in a few weeks... I have only seen a few who sent to the wrong place get it forwarded by USCIS.... but there is always a chance....

Shoot! I kept tossing up between those two addresses, since the paperwork didn't make it very clear. Should've asked on here before I sent it.

I have a full copy of everything. Should I resend a copy to the Chicago location today? If I wait too long for it to be returned then I may have to pay those extra fees they are introducing at the end of July.

Thanks all, at least I have an explanation.
