I think there are visa quotas for each country but don't know how they break that down.
Here is some interesting reading:

http://www.imminfo.com/Newsletter/visabulletin.htmlReally what will they think of next! Nora they need to just give Ahmed his visa this is really ridiculous! They really don't realize just how many people's live's are affected from all of this waiting. But really i don't think they care either. You are in my prayers that this ends soon. And everyone else waiting i hope we all are reunited soon with our loved ones

instead of getting the run around so much

Keep us posted Nora on what you find out! Chin up girl!

The visa is printed on a special paper that makes it difficult to counterfeit. I would say it is possible that they ran out (but poor planning if they did). The machine that affixes them to the passport was broken in our case, which caused a delay. So yes, possible, but I'm sorry for your delay.

Yea, today the lady told me that his passport is ready (has been for weeks and weeks but whatever) but the visa wont be printed today. I asked why and she said because we don't have visas. HUH? I still didn't understand and she said we had to order from america. Of course she didn't know when they would come in.
I almost wanted to laugh when she said that but i wasn't really awake yet.
I wonder what will happen next
P.S. Congrats Mona u got married today!

Not for nothin' but obviously they had some last week so why have they waited all this time to give him his? They have had his passport for weeks and they just suddenly think to now print it out after sitting on it and voila they're now suddenly out? Something smells rotton in Denmark.

I agree with you Doodle that visas were just sent out last week to other ppl so where is Ahmed's? Soooo not right. Sorry Nora that you are having these difficulties and some kind of run around from Cairo. Know exactly how that feels!!!!

Reminds me of when they told Jean that it took a couple of months to get their printer working. You just can't make this stuff up you know? I totally think they're full of it and someone is lying over there.

Unless you as the one filing for your SO to come (LPR) and they cut up and used all the trees, there no shortage of visas.

thats nuts.. I've never heard of that before... You would THINK that if they were running low.. they might RE order?? AND if they were to have a limit every month as to how many they could give out... Its a new month.
I dont know... I know its Cairo and all.. but still ..

I think it's because the person that prints the visas is out sick and no one knows how to hit the "print" button. Seriously, this has to be one of the worst excuses from Cairo yet.

I think I have read somewhere that Consulate's may start limiting the amount of Visas issued...
You would have thought that the last person pulling a "blank" visa off the shelf would have said..."Hey, we're gettin' low people!!!!" That's a bunch of CRAP!!!!!
I'm really sorry for you. I would be mad as the devil!!!

Makes me think they have a list of random excuses to give petitioners when they call and ask for information. In Casa, I would always get the "wrong extension, I'll connect you to the right person" trick, where it always seemed like the person who eventually answered my question was the first person I talked to to begin with!
This must be "Lame Excuse to give Petioner #547" - they have to vary it up or too many of us will be on to them!

Jul 5 2007, 05:47 PM
who knows... could be one of the many excuses.. but I do know the next day the excuse changed from 'out of visas' to 'we have a limited number' and it was that paper that they print on, not actual VISA but the PAPER they were talking about..... Sigh.....

I'm willing to buy 100000000 bananas if they would just fix their mistake already!
It's sad cuz ahmed made a friend the day of his interview and they have been keeping in touch over the last few months and his friend received his passport june 19, a day before ahmed got his back (minus the visa) so they would have been done at about the same time...
what's even funnier, he booked his flight for the same day ahmed wanted to leave too

I'm surprised your fiance hasn't gotten his visa yet, Nouna. Hopefully not much longer now.
