First of all hubby got called into the boss' office yesterday and was offered a totally unexpected promotion. We were over the moon

Then, I got called into my boss' office today and he asked me if I would like to be in charge of HR!!!!!

For those of you who know me, straight after getting my EAD I went to a temp agency and they found me a job starting the very next day. It was in accounts receivable for a food manufacturing company and paid peanuts, but I took it anyway. Got very bored and pestered everyone I could find at work to find me something to do to fill in the time. Then I started helping out in purchasing. Someone overheard me say I needed to post my resume on Monster.com and that very day, the president asked me if I would stay on permanently with a small increase.

Now this!!! I can't believe it! and a 33% increase too!

He had better watch out - I will be running the whole show soon! (just joking!)

I just wanted people to know that it is possible to get on, even if you don't fit into the normal pattern of jobs. And I would definitely recommend signing on with a temp agency to start with.

Just wish me luck - I hope I can do the job!

I am sure you will be able to do the job or they probably wouldn't have had the confidence in you to offer you the new job.

anne, firstly, congratulations to both of you on your promotions and raises. Secondly, thank you for posting your experience. As some one that has recently moved and is waiting to get her EAD, I have given a lot of thought about signing up with temp agencies to begin with. After reading your experience, I am definitely going that route to being with. I only hope I have as much success as you have. Well done!
