I went to DMV sometime ago to have my name changed...they nicely informed me that I cannot use my Jamaican marriage cert to do that. I need to get my points someplace else...Have u guys ever heard of this ?

OMG what state do u live in? I didn't even have the offical one whenI changed my name at the DMV. I have never heard of such a thing. I hope everything works out Kimmy can u go to another DMV in a different town?

Claudeth just had to show something official from the USCIS which, at the time, was her EAD in her married name.

Kimmy, that is ridiculous! I live in PA but I was able to change all my documentation as that marriage certificate is valid! I suggest that you contact the social security office which is the first point of contact to get the name change and then bring the certificate with you to the bank, contact the DMV via their 800 number and find out why they are not taking it. I did not have this problem at all.

That's strange.At the DMV here (RI) they do a name change with a marriage certificate from another country.What state do you live in ? Try going to another one,those DMV workers tend to have attitude problems and they probably didn't want to do it because they were having a bad day.
