We just got an email update for my hubby's EAD stating:

On June 25, 2007, we transferred this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION to our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action.

---

We haven't seen the snail mail notice yet, so we haven't seen the explanation - but I was just wondering if this is a good or bad thing.

Thanks smile.gif

I got an email last week, 18th June stating that my EAD got transfered FROM CSC to another office for processing, no idea which one it was sent to though, for all i know it could have been sent to the North Pole laughing.gif

Here was me thinking that once CSC had received it.. it was there to stay until it was approved...I was wrong wink.gif i guess they dont know what to do with my application LOL oh well.

Just following up to my own topic hehe I had asked a bit ago if this was good or bad to have your EAD transferred to VSC - apparently it's amazingly good - at least in our case:

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On July 19, 2007, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

I think it depends on the state but you should be able to simply declare your drivers license from the country of origin in exchange for a US drivers license. That is what I did.

What state did you do that in? It doesn't work in Pennsylvania.

Doesn't work in Ohio either! I have to take a written & in-car exam...boo...

State laws vary for drivers licensing. Pennsylvania is very different (in a good way I suppose tongue.gif) But my husband never had a car in Glasgow, never needed one - so never had a license. Actually I think that's the better way to do it anyway, he won't have to unlearn any bad habits wink.gif

Hopefully he won't learn to drive like a Central Pennsylvanian though, you know "Yellow means slam on the brakes" etc. wink.gif

teehee :X That's not fair, there are just a zillion OAP's in the area tongue.gif My favourite though is "I'm over 60 yrs old, yield doesn't apply to me!"

It was in Florida.

I gave them my Canuck license and they said welcome to the team!

If only immigration was this easy smile.gif

Paperwork received April 27th and still waiting on my EAD sad.gif

Well I think Canadian licenses are probably a special case, there's probably some agreement between Canada and the USA. I think people from other countries are not so lucky.

Luckily, passing the test in the USA is easy for anyone who's got a license from a non-US country.

Not so, Dr_LHA....I'm Canadian and I have to take written + 2-part in car exam. Not a walk in the park by any means. I should just go to Florida to get it done, then come back up to Ohio and switch it over wink.gif.
selly
From what I understand Florida also accept UK driving licences good.gif He writes hoping his research was accurate................

Fair enough, it most likely varies from state to state like all DL issues.

That said Ohio are particularly pathelogical in their handling of DL for foriegners. For example, if you're not a permenant resident they issue a "non-transferable" license, which means if you move to another state, you have to take your test all over again!
