Hi ALL!!! star_smile.gif

Can anyone answer a query on the packet 3 checklist.
I have to send the forms with the checklist back but:

It asks for date of travel and date of wedding, do i put, ''dependant on visa'' at this point?

Also, It said to send in duplicate of the DS-156 but to NOT sign. This seems odd that you don't sign the DS-156K but they are asking to not sign the DS-156?? Even though on the form it has an area to clearly sign....

So I have sent 2 copies in, 1 signed and one not signed.
What do you think?

Thanks!!! Emma kicking.gif

Emma -- I can't answer your questions about the DS-156 as we didn't have to complete those, but I can tell you that "dependent on visa" is spot on for an answer as to your travel and date of wedding if you don't know these yet. If you do have some more or less concrete dates in mind, you can mention those instead.

I would put an actual date. I do believe the Embassy does look at the answer to that question when making interview appointments.

On my form I put a date of travel that I hope to go on if I got the visa in time and which was only 6 weeks from when I received packet 3. I got an interview one week before that date.

If you do as you suggest they will schedule before you those people who have given a date of travel and need an early interview. You only have to look on the interview thread to see some people get quick interviews and others are a couple of months away.

You don't actually have to travel by the date you put on the form. innocent.gif

Put a date. Or put "ASAP" if you don't mind waiting extra time in favor of the people who put down a date.

If you don't know on the dates just put ASAP.

With regards to the DS-156 form do you mean you sent in 2 copies unsigned and 2 signed?

The form states that under no circumstances sign this form as it is something completed by the embassy by the look of things and may need to be notarized. If you have just sent one of each I would suggest re-sending an unsigned copy again to avoid a wait.

Hi,

I do have the dates, but I thought you were not really supposed to tell them that you have planned your dates already...

Also, I am only sending 1 of each of DS-156, one signed and 1 unsigned....

Thanks for the help

Also.

It is form DS-156K that tells you not to sign on it.
The one I am talking about is DS-156, the one with the bar codes...This is the one my letter says do not sign, but tells you to sign on the form wacko.gif

PUT THE DATES if you have dates.

You misinterpret what you've read here. The common sentiment is anyone who starts planning their wedding pre-visa is a ninny in for a world of disappointment. This may or may not be true. The sentiment continues that if you have planned a wedding, they won't do too much to help you since you should've known better. Whether they do help out with dates may or may not be true, but London does seem better than others with taking situations into consideration.

OF COURSE you should write in the appropriate dates if you know them. In fact, as I said above. I would recommend putting in A date period, since if you say "ASAP" they will do it as soon as possible for them, which could end up being later than you'd think.

They didn't accidently include lines for travel and wedding dates. When the Embassy asks a simple question and you have an appropriate answer, give it to them!

Read the instructions and followed them? I don't recall there being too many questions on that form, but not sure . . ..
