Ok just to update everyone - I had my medical & interview on 6&7 June. As my new letter from the subject access form about my police records hadnt arrived before the interview the lady gave me a blue form and my passport back - told me to ring the couriers when I have it and arrange for pick up and then delivery of the passport with the visa. I rang them yesterday - cost me £24 - arranged to be collected on Tuesday as they said that was the earliest! Got woken up today at 7.50am (yeah I sleep in lol late night last night) by knocking and door bell ringing! The courier is on my doorstep!! - anyways took the receipt and placed my passport, police record letter, and the blue form back in the envelope and sealed - signed and done - its on its way to the american embassy!! Courier said it should get to them today!!

The medical doctor also needed furter information - I managed to chase My GP's secretary and well the letter from my GP got faxed yesterday to Knightsbridge doctors. Now all they are waiting for is a psychiatric evaluation report - for that I have an appointment with the psychiatrists on 3 July, I just hope they dont take 2 weeks to get the report done and faxed like my GP's secretary took! I am hoping (fingers crossed) the medical Doctor might be just happy with the letter from my GP and not wait for the psychiatric evaluation, but who knows?? May try and ring them on wednesday next week to see if its all ok?

I do have a question though... before I sent the police record letter I forgot to make a copy of it - I have a clean record so thats fine but wanted to keep copies of everything... Will I need the police record letter again anytime soon?? Should I send the embassy an email to say sorry I forgot to make a copy could you please send me one with the passport and visa? Or am I just stressing?

Thanks in advance.....Lina(UKC)

I don't think you'll need it again, but there's no harm in asking them to send a copy back with your passport.

You will not need it for part of the immigration process but I have used mine for prospective employers who want to run background checks.

As an example I have applied for a security position at an airport which requires quite stringent background checks. I told them I have a Police Certificate from the UK certifying my lack of a criminal history, it might make a difference on if I'm considered for the job if it is easier for them to verify my past.

At my interview the Embassy gave me back the original certificate and kept the photocopy I had attached to it, as they did with all the original and photocopy documents I had to provide. So ask them to copy it and send the original back.

When I applied for a B1/B2 visa, I forgot to take copies of the police certificate. They copied it and sent it back a few weeks later.
