Hi again,

Just want to see what all you Brits did when you had to apply for your police record.

I had 2 different pieces of info.

Basically, I was told to pop into my local station and ask them, so i did...
and they looked at me like i was asking to become the cheif of scotland yard!
They had NO idea and were like, '''ummmmmmm, here's a number, call them''

So I called and was told to print off a form on line and mail it in, so i did, still paid a tenner but it was a Thames Valley Police form, that the mailling address was Oxon!

Now i am confused at what i am going to recieve in the post!
I was told that Oxon would mail it to Scotland Yard and then i would yet it..

What did everyone else do??????

I printed off the form from the website and took it into my local police station. They asked if it was in relation to a visa application, took my £10 and gave me a scrappy receipt. Just short of 40 days later I got the report.

Mine was sent to the hampshire police who then sent it on to scotland yard

I printed off the form twice, sent one to my local police force (Cheshire) and the other to the Metropolitan Police (anyone can apply via the Met no matter where they live) just in case one of them got lost.

The police certs arrived within a day of each other...

Hampshire police dealt with mine too, and they were fantastic (as I had to do most of the correspondence by email as I am living in Germany) - they take the application and send it on for you. It often does take the full forty days.

Thanks ALL!!!

What exactly do the police certs say? Conrad got his today and it just says "we have no record of you in our database". That is good right? No criminal record? I just want to make sure they are saying they can't find him BECAUSE he has no record, not because they don't think he exists!

Yes, that means good news! I know, the police certificates are distinctly underwhelming to look at, but what you have there is a clean record. Congrats! good.gif

I got mine back just over a week ago and it referred to the Warwickshire Police request, which I worried about at first as I applied through West Yorkshire Police??? I was concerned that the Police Force wouldn't match up with my addresses, however when I thought about it rationally the fact that it confirms that there is no record is all that matters.

Thames Valley Police are responsible for the Oxon area for the original concern over the Police Force that handles the request.

Execellent! Thank you both. I suppose when you are sitting around waiting, you find things to worry about. LOL

Hope it takes less then 40 days.

Ours took about 33 days I believe. This includes weekends.

I sent mine on the 13th of June, I got a receipt notice dated 18th June and I have not received the police report yet.
