Since I sent in my I-129F almost two months ago and have not heard anything and because it had been over 30 days since CSC cashed my check - I decided to call the 800 number.

I was told that because of a computer glitch and backlog, almost no NOA1s were mailed out for applications received over the past 2 months. Can you believe this BS?!

They told me to wait another 30 days for the NOA1 to arrive.

So...3 months to (hopefully!) get an NOA1 in the mail. This is crazy!

PS: At least I get to go visit my Sweetie for a couple weeks in July =)

While inconvenient, it's not the end of the world unless you had no way to confirm your case. Given your check was cashed, at least you had some knowledge your application was received (and maybe more if you could reference your case # from the back of the cashed check)

Now, if this glitch DELAYED processing you application that’s another story. This just sounds like just an issue that didn't mail out the notices…which would explain a lot of the recent posts about people not getting NOAs (either via E-mail or snail mail).

Anyway…end result…keep waiting and maybe your NOA2 will arrive before your NOA1! good.gif

NOA2 is needed later in the process (for AOS peitition). It doesnt really matter if you get NOA1 as long as you can get your case number in another way.

I like your optimism elquevon!

It does seem to be a case of notices not being mailed and not that the applications were lost or further delayed any more than usual.

I did get my case number from the cashed check (cashed one month after CSC's receipt of application) and was able to get the information online from USCIS that it was "mailed" on May 21st.

Hey, buddy thanks for the info. I'm in the same boat as you. Have a nice vacation in Thailand. I will not be able to go until October. Take care and enjoy.

OK, that can then explain why I have not received my NOA1 in the mail when our case was received on May 29th (going on a month of swearing at the postman not delivering the UCSIS envelop...). I have not been touched by CSC since June 1st, just getting nervous and frustrated...

Any other late May (it took them 3 weeks to open my mail and cash the check) with more progress??
Good luck all.

Based on your timeline, you probably wont see anymore touches for another 2 months. It sits on a shelf until the backlog ahead of your case gets processed. If you can track your case online and know your case number, you really dont need your NOA1.

I guess, just that I am a bit afraid that the NOA1 would come with a RFE that I'd miss and that'd delay our case, unless the page online tells that a RFE has been sent as well?
For info, I was told by the first agent on the phone that I could find my case # on the back of the check but none of the numbers I could see online (thanks BofA) would make sense, so my second call to the USCIS was escalated and after few verification questions (name, address, name of the fiancee...) I was given my case#.

Waiting 2 months then...

I wonder if I will get an NOA1. They received out petition on June 19th and cashed the check on the 22nd. I was able to get the case number off the back of the check. Luckily all the numbers were "mostly" readable. After setting up my account with USCIS, I got their notice that they sent me something in the mail (NOA1). Whether that is true or not, I won't know until next week.

Don't hold your breath, I have been waiting for 3 weeks for the NOA1 they supposedly sent (May 29th)... it may never come, but as past posters said, it is not needed for the rest of the process.

I hope everything works out for you in the end. You really don't need the NOA1. But you need to have your NOA2, because that will have your SO's Alien Registration number and you will need the NOA2 for the AOS. Long story short after several calls, different stories from various USCIS agents (you have to pay $200, to get it, no we'll resend for free, pay, free, pay etc....) I got a free copy last week in the mail. I was approved in 4/30 but got a 5/3 approval e-mail.

A trick to try, when you get to NVC ask for your alien registration number while your case is still physically at NVC. After 50 days without my NOA2 I e-mailed NVC, they replied the couldn't give the A# because the case had already been forwarded to the embassy. I didn't contact the embassy because I didn't want to raise any flags so close to our interview.

Also, Bozzo, I have BOA and it was really hard to read my case # on the back of the check. Try printing it out. I couldn't read mine on the computer screen but I was able to make it out after I printed.

Ussualy it will, but sometimes it doesnt. Unless your case has been rejected by the mail room for something obvious reason like missing a check, you wont know if your case needs more evidence until they start processing it. Which will be in about 2 months from now. But you do have your case number so you can keep tabs on it online.
