Hi all,
I am in the process of applying for a transfer of my K1 visa from Montreal to Vancouver. I realize that they are "cracking" down, according to other discussions, though other than this word of advice, it appears that most people are successful in getting their paperwork transferred. I understand that a valid address in BC is warranted, as well as a valid reason why we would like the transfer.
For those of you who have applied for a transfer, were any of you denied? If so, was an explanation provided?
haha, I would like an idea of how optimistic I can be

As far as I know.. only one person was refused transfer since MTL agreed but Vancouver said they were overextended.

I moved to Vancouver from Toronto 3 weeks ago.
I wrote an email to Montreal, cc Vancouver, that I got a job offer in Vancouver and was about to move, and asked for my file to be transferred. I provided my new Vancouver address and a phone number. I got a response from Montreal the same day saying that my file was transferred.
There have to be a valid reason, that's right.

Thanks again everyone for your replies.
My fiance and I emailed the Vancouver Consulate last week, requesting they consider transferring our case. We still have not heard anything from them. Should we have contacted Montreal instead, and ask them to transfer our case to Vancouver?
We were under the impression that Vancouver was the one who had to approve the transfer, but I have seen other posts where people have said they emailed Montreal, and Montreal initiated the transfer. Does anyone have any further info?

You should contact both of them. Vancouver needs to approve it but Montreal needs to send it.

Well, Vancouver declined our request for transfer. They advised that their workload did not permit them to take any extra cases.
We are now in the process of contacting Montreal.
Any suggestions on what else we can do, that may help us push through a transfer?

It seems that you've gotten your answer. I really don't think Montreal is going to force through something that Vancouver has already denied. As far as I could tell, the whole transfer process hinged on whether or not Vancouver would agree to take the case in question. Sorry!
Sounds like the transfer pipeline is closing........

I suppose the only way they would reconsider is if you moved to any of the western provinces. Sorry and Good luck

Montreal won't transfer it without Vancouver accepting. What was your exact request and reason that you gave to Vancouver? They won't take on cases from Montreal if the applicant isn't in one of the western provinces or moving/working out there, etc.
Also, please fill in your timeline. Looking at other people's processing dates helps everyone going through this.

I had a Congresswoman's office ask to transfer me on my behalf, and Vancouver said this week that they are low on resources and could not accept the transfer. I did not have any good reason outside of trying to accomodate my wedding plans.
I wasn't expecting an approval, but they are definitely cracking down and really demanding a valid response which is understandable.

thanks again everyone.
It was the same with me. A congresswoman petitioned the transfer on our behalf, and we got the same reason.
oh well.... for Montreal I'll wait I guess...
