Full Version: Casablanca's Method of Giving Interview Dates Changing?

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone with experience of dealing with Casablanca consulate could shed some light on an issue that has us somewhat perplexed. I called the DOS number and was told that "Packet 3" was mailed to my fiance on June 18, 2007. From what other Casa folks have said, the interview date and time is included with Packet 3. DOS said we don't have an interview date yet, despite the package being already mailed. So, I emailed Casablanca yesterday, and this is an excerpt from the response I received today:

"We recently received your fiancé’s file at this office. We are in the process of scheduling his appointment. As soon as we have done so, we will mail him a packet of information including his appointment date."

I am kind of at a loss to explain that, as DOS is showing the package as already mailed! Perhaps it was a generic response or DOS has a mistaken mailing date in their system? blink.gif I am wondering if the procedure has changed, and if they now schedule the interview date after mailing the packet 3. I would especially like to hear from those who have interviews scheduled for July. Did you guys receive your date/time with Packet 3?

Thanks,
iysha

Date and time is sent with packet 3. When Casa sends it, they will be able to tell you the interview date by email. (In our case, the packet was sent, but he didn't receive it until 3 weeks later - about a week before his interview).
I haven't heard of DOS giving info about when packet 3 was sent - maybe they're referring to all the paperwork being sent from NVC? Just an idea - maybe other people are more familiar with the info that DOS gives you.

Good luck.

Thanks Liz for the information; I really appreciate it. Thanks also for wishing us luck; Gawd knows we all need it! NVC mailed a letter stating that they sent the paperwork on May 31, 2007. Casa has a received date of June 4, 2007. I don't know where DOS got that June 18th Packet 3 date from, since Casa has no record of ever sending the Packet 3. It's either a DOS error or Casa oversight. I emailed them again asking for clarification of the issue, so we'll see! good.gif

Jenn!
I think that it was a DOS mistake. While DOS tracks packet and interview information for certain consulates, AFAIK Casa is not one of them. I hope you get your packet soon!

Iysha,
You are right, exact same thing happened with us. After the similar e-mail (which you got casa), I got an e-mail with appointment date for my wife and also telling which forms to bring and link to downlaod the forms. It also had word doc for medical. My wife has not yet received the packet 3 which according to DOS was mailed on May 28th.

We were never sent notification that the file had arrived in Casa, nor a letter for his interview. I had just happened to call the NVC to inquire as to whether the file had been received and his appointment had been scheduled that very day. That was Feb 06. We thought that was going to be the "official" interview, but the officer didn't even look at his file. The officer shoved a piece of paper at my husband and said we needed to submit more paperwork and yelled next. We submitted that in May 06 (took a while to get what they needed). His file stayed on AP until April 07. They called him a couple of weeks before his interview for the I-601, so I didn't have enough time to make it over. He was actually on the train to Casa when the bombing happened. And as I am sure that you know, closed the Consulate for 2 months. They called him the first of June to reschedule the appointment which was 6/12. We never got any letters, just phone calls.

My husband is Palestinian and we have run into a lot of problems because of this because he's considered stateless. Even though he was born in Morocco, he is not considered a Moroccan citizen. As you can see from our timeline, we've really been dealing with this crap for a long time.

I REALLY wish you luck. I've been hearing through many people on this site, that Casa is tough. Hang in there!

Jenn, thanks for the reply. I think you're right about that. After reading Talat's post and seeing how they went through the same thing, I think it is a DOS issue. So it's likely that the email from Casa is the most accurate status update for now. Keeping fingers crossed. happy.gif

Talat, thanks a million for sharing that the same issue occurred with your interview date as well. Now I am able to piece it all together. I think there's a DOS glitch somewhere along the line. I just wonder where they get those phony Packet 3 dates from....weird! wacko.gif

Allousa, wow over a year AP for Casa! I feel for 'ya, and I must commend your patience and perseverance. But alhamdulillah at least you've arrived at your goal now, and soon the wait will be all worthwhile! For us, we just want to get it over with and know the outcome, so we can take the most appropriate next step for a stable/secure future together. I know we were lucky to have our petition approved in less than 3 months, but still the wait is a bit grueling. rolleyes.gif

Is anyone planning to go to Morocco for their S/O's interview in July in Casablanca? If our date is in the 3rd or 4th week in July, then there's a good chance I'll be able to go. The Summer airfare is big cheddar, but if you break the trip into legs (which requires extensive planning due to date/time considerations of connecting flights), i.e. Houston-New York, New York-Madrid, Royal Air Maroc Madrid-Casablanca, etc, you can get a fairly good deal, though still not as affordable as Winter, but closer to the Spring fares. The Royal Air Maroc site is really good. I found a one way from Fez to New York , July 21 for only $355. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks so much for everything.

Best Wishes,

Iysha,

Hi - I am not too sure what is going on with Casa..... I was told that my husbands packet 3 was mailed to him on May29th -- and he never received it. I kept on emailing Casa once per week and was finally told this week that my husbands interview is next Thursday.... all the previous responses said the canned -- "we have your petition and a packet will be mailed soon..."

I did have my congressman email after I had waited 3 weeks for the packet #3 to reach my husband (not too sure if this prompted the interview date.... like i said who knows?????) All I can say is that 2 days after my congressman received a response to the inquiry they sent I received the email with the date.

Also, I did email Casa back as I was worried about not receiving packet 3 and I received a response today that we would NOT be receiving the packet and the necessary information was attached to the email (and it was -- the link to the forms and the doctors letters etc.....)

Things must be crazy in Casa since the re-opening!!!

Good Luck and I hope all that are waiting get something soon ..... it is torturous!!

Thanks Iysha. smile.gif

It's been so tough since we were actually together for a couple of years before he got stuck in Morocco. Needless to say we no longer have the attorney that didn't tell us if he went home, he couldn't come back. sad.gif

I'm definitely the most on edge I've ever been through this whole process because we are so near the end. I'm just ready for him to come home, especially so our son can get to know his daddy!

Whenever I plan trips for Maroc, I usually use Orbitz. I've even checked airfare for this summer, but the prices are already close to $1000 per person. Too much for me and our boy. Good luck! smile.gif

We had the same thing happen. I sent an email on May 15th because I knew Casa had received the approved petition. I got an email back the same day my fiance got his papers.I am pretty sure it is a canned responce, dear madam... blah blah balh..we are working on setting a day.

his packed was mailed on 5/23 and his interview is 6/19. today i get email from casa saying his interview day but the time is different then the time on his paper... in the email it said they can not tell me exactly how long it will take, but i all things are good(and then it stated as they look) then he will receive his visa the next day. then it mentioned the medical exam(which attached was a list of doctors) and the inormaiton he needs to bring with him (did not mention anythign about support). then it said best of luck sincerely, us consulate general

hmmmm little weird part of the email looked canned, and the other looked like some one had added to it. anyways... i dont know what is going on over there. i just want my hunny here.
