If my fiance arrives on a flight that has a layover, is the layover city considered their point of entry?
YuAndDan
If the layover city is in the USA, then YES yes.gif that is the POE.
Dan + Gemvita
If the layover is in the US, your fiance will go through immigration there.
jlvr
Okay. So nonstop flights only. good.gif Thanks.
MaydayDas
It doesn't matter how many stops the flight has, first stop in US is POE and your fiance goes through immigration. good.gif

jlvr, some airports in the Caribbean have US-destinations PFI's. If the traveller flies to US from one of these (not sure that Kingston is one), then US immigration is cleared (and K-1 activated) before boarding flight to US.

(I don't know if the Caribbean PFI's also clear customs).

Quite a number of airports have the POE at the airport prior to boarding the flight. If this is the case at your fiancé's departure airport then that will be their port of entry.

I don't know what a PFI is but I don't think that's the case for Kingston.

Out of interest, why? As long as you leave enough time for the connection.

A stop in JFK New York along the way could be worth a 90 day work authorization stamp, something to perhaps consider in choice of flights.

jlvr,

You're right, Kingston is not. 4 in the Caribbean - Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Aruba.
