Hello,

I have been trying to email the New Delhi Embassy to find out if there is a location online to download the Information Packages for K-1 Visa (Packets 3) similar to what the Mumbai Consulate offers at http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivforms.html.

However, every time i send them an e-mail; even if I put "Request for Specific Information" in the subject, I still get this automated response:

QUOTE
From: Inquiries, Immigrant Visa [mailto:IVND@state.gov]

Thanks sandip and doc_cute!

I guess I will have to wait to find out then. But I am serously thinking of using the Mumbai Packet 3 and just changing the Name and Address of the consulate. Did you packet 3 look like mumbai's with the exception of name/address of consulate?

Go ahead and submit it. I did the same thing and Delhi embassy accepted it.

DS-230 Part I
DS-156 Two copies
Photo copies of passport
Two passport pics

Thanks

nimble
They do tend to reply back in a few days.

The automated response is normal. I usually get a response within a day at the Mumbai Embassy. Maybe Delhi is a little backlogged.

hello vikas ,
delhi is also very prompt in replying to messages
it is only when their file is received in delhi
be it any embasy in india
until they receive the file they wont reply coz the system responsible to reply till the packet is received by local embassy is the nvc .

I agree with doc_cute and the others, you can indeed use the Mumbai packet but please only do it after you know your case has been received in Delhi. If you send Packet 3 before then, they will NOT process your case and it will only confuse them. The confusion may even make your case processing longer! Wishing you the best for your case getting to Delhi SOON!

eileen has given such a million dollar valuable info to you
thanks to her good.gif

thanks everyone!

yes, i'll wait for Delhi to get the case first. I still have to have my fiancee get one more PCC, and the medical done; and thne we should be good with all the requirements.

Another question with using Mumbai's Packets 3 -

Should I reprint the Packets using Delhi's information (i have a version of adobe that lets me edit the pdf)
or should i simply cross out (using pen) the mumbai information and write in the delhi information
or perhaps I should put a sticker on top with delhi information
or maybe I need to leave the packet as is and just fill out and send?

i dont think crossing and putting stickers is allowed
it seems some new info
u cant even e mail them as your packet hasnt been received by them yet so they wont reply
best is to call them up via phone or u might ask your fiancee to go to there help desk along with her noa (coz they wont entertain without that )
and they are really helpful n nice at helpdesk will guide u as per your situation .

Personally, I would not tamper with the Mumbai packet's info (like changing address etc). Hopefully when the time comes, you will get the correct Delhi packet. Or, you can send in the Mumbai checklist with a cover letter explaining how Delhi's checklist was not available. Besides the checklist, all other docs are identical (DS-156, DS-230 etc.).

Anyone who has gone through Delhi who has the correct packet saved on their computer? I have Chennai's packet 4 but that doesn't help you does it. no0pb.gif

I am not sure if it is big deal but I didn't even send the checklist from Mumbai embassy. I would not temper with Mumbai P3. I did attach a letter mentioning that we have all the paper work required for the interview and also I attached a copy of checklist from Delhi embassy with it. Hope this helps!!
