Allie

Hi everyone I just got back to N.S. and here's how my interview in MTL went.

I flew up to MTL on Mon. and stayed at La Tour Centre Ville Hotel, 400 Rene Leveque Blvd West
I had stayed there many times previously so knew it's reference to the Consulate. It's about a 2 minute walk, just a cross the street.

I left my room at around 7:20 got over to the Consulate and there was 1 person there ahead of me.
At 7:30 a guy opened the door and was very polite and mannerly. He checked my passport and Appt. letter and told me to proceed up the steps through the door to the security screening area.
That area was manned by 3 guys 2 checking and entering stuff though the X-ray and one guy viewing. After putting everything through X-ray I was asked to walk through the airport type scanner and then scanned with the metal detector wand. Once again very polite, mannerly and helpful in giving direction where to go afterwards. He gave me a small card with the letter and number A 9 on it and told me "hold onto this you'll need it upstairs"
After all was checked I was told " go through that door, down the stairs to the elevator and sit, someone will come and get you to go up to the 19 th floor.

At about 7:50 the same guy that scanned my stuff came down and had us all go into the elevator. 4 of us headed directly to the back. Everyone else stood facing the front where we entered. Not VJ people I guess lol lol
I met Davin and his Wife Rachel and commented you all must be from VJ "go to the back of the elevator" is a dead give away we all laughed. There was another young lady there at the back too I didn't get her name

We got to the 19th and were lead to an area with 3 windows. The security sat us in order and told me "you'll be first up when window 9 opens". TShortly after the window opened i went up and was met by a very frienly Lady ( blond hair) She asked for my little number letter card along with my Appt: letter Then told me to go beseated out in the waiting area again and you'll be called.
I sat out there for approx. 20 minutes and was called to window 12. The same Lady was there. She asked for the following
My passport
Originals and copies of mine and Lorry's Birth Certifs.
'' '' '' of Death Certifs. ( we're widowed)
The I-134, employer letter, pay stubs, Bank letter
Copy of NOA2
Recent letter of intent to still marry from Lorry
Original Police Certificate
The Original DS-156K From Packet 3
The sealed medical envelope
The ExpressPost envelope
Any Airline boarding passes or travel receipts
After giving all this I was given a paper " go to window 14 pay the $100 and come back her with that slip given. I did that and was told to sit again in the waiting area till my name was called. about 45 minutes later I was called to room #7
Upon entering I was greeted by a very friendly young man. He told em put your left index finger and then the right on the print scanner. He then got me to sign the DS-156K form. Then had me hold up my right hand and swear that all the info given was the truth.
Then asked how Lorry and I met?
When did you decide on Marriage?
Why the decision of you going there and her not to Canada?
When were you engaged?
Will you be working and where
Have you looked into Health Insurance?
Did you give a ring yet ( I said yes I have the receipt here if you want it. He said no need )
He then said you made 4 trips to see her so there's no need to see pics or receipts I've looked at the boarding passes
I'm happy to inform you that your Visa is approved and will be mailed in the envelope you provided.
I asked when will it be mailed he told me I'll try to get it in to-days out mail but if not to-day tommorrow
He then told me good luck to you and your fiance'
He was a really good guy, very friendly easy to talk with

All in all my Interview experience in MTL was very pleasant no problems or rude people what so ever to deal with

Lorry and I want to thank everybody on VJ for helping us get through this process You have all been simply the Best Thank you all so much
Now onto the rest of the Journey No doubt we'll have questions needing answering and assuranc efor you all

Best Regards
Allie & Lorry

It was $110.00 Melyssa. I've stayed there many, many times and found it to be very good The fact that it's only approx 1000ft from the Consulate is ideal
Yep head to the back of the elevator you'll find other VJers hangin out there lol lol

Allie - did you get the originals of the Birth certs back by chance or do they keep those? Hope so since I had 1 heck of a time getting 2 copies from Thunder Bay registrar!

Congratulations! It must be a weight off your shoulders getting through that interview. I'll post my own review on a separate thread later on but I will say this: they never asked me for my fiancee's birth certificate and I was relieved. They didn't even take my copy of her divorce certificate. And they were all very nice people. Congratulations again.
